How long have you been veg*an and what do you use on your cereal?!
Answers: Thanks. :)
Off & on for 30 + years. I use Rice Dream on my cereal. I also like Almond Breeze & Silk Soy Milk. I have allot of food allergies & all 3 of these are Gluten Free.
Slainté (to your health)
10 years, soymilk.
2 months, soy milk and bananas
5 years
light plain silk milk
I have been vegan for a little over a year, but I have been an increasingly stricter vegetarian since I was 14 or so; it was almost an unconscious thing, I eventually just cut out eggs and dairy as well, and have been making a conscious effort to keep all the products in my home animal-free.
Cereal? I don't eat it, I am an oatmeal person, and I like to put frozen fruit into my oatmeal after I pour hot water on it. The fruit cools the oatmeal a little but remains cold and sweet. I don't like the taste of warm fruit.
Vegan for about 5 years. I use Silk Plus Omega-3 DHA soymilk.
Although I'm not *quite* vegan, I've been vegetarian since July 1987. I don't have a bowl of cereal very often, but when I do I use fruit juice, usually orange. This sounded really weird when I read it in a vegan nutrition book, but I tried it & it's pretty good with some kinds of cereal, especially granola.
I usually eat cereal out of hand as a "snack" though.
10 months, orange juice.
i just started. i've been vegetarian since august 31.
i usually eat cereal with silk soy milk
Since 1990
Ha ha, I find the question a little funny because I don't eat cereal, not for a long time and our friends just brought us some groceries because our car was in the shop and they included (organic) cereal. I just put some soy milk on it. We didn't eat it as a meal (breakfast etc.). We ate it as a dessert snack in the mid afternoon.
Now, if you also want to include *real* cereal such as oats, I make oatmeal frequently and we put malt on it or just plain. Why malt? Because it's sweet yet still a complex carbohydrate. That means it's good for ya, and my daughter won't go bonkers and crazy freaking out later on in the day. All it takes is a little sugar and hours later, she's going nuts. I think most parents just think it's normal or usual, but there's a reason. White flour has the same effect, by-the-way.
Vegetarian 21 years, vegan 3 months. I never liked getting my cereal soggy with milk even pregan, so I really only eat cereal dry as a snack. I choose other things for breakfast.
Vegan about 9 years or so. (Veg. for 24 yr. total)
I like my cereal pretty plain. (and I eat pretty middle-ground stuff, not Captain Crunch or Kashi but Quaker Oat Squares)
I just put soy milk on it (I like the vanilla varieties with sweet stuff, WestSoy Eden Soy, and 365/whole foods brand).
For sweetener I use raw sugar or splenda.
Sometimes I'll slice up a ripe banana and put it on there.
The weird thing... I add a couple of ice cubes to mine. I like my soy milk nice and COLD! :-P
