Vegan Pea Coat?!
Thank you so much!
Answers: I love pea coats, but I am vegan and have had no luck finding any that are not wool. I'm sixteen years old and five feet tall; I would prefer that the jacket be no lower than my hips. Black, grey, red, and navy blue are excellent colors--solid is best.
Thank you so much!
Ignore the idiots. Vegans don't wear wool. If they did, they wouldn't be vegan.
This one's kind of a change from the traditional peacoat:
http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp... You may want to double check, but it says 60% cotton, 40% polyester. (sueded is something you can do to fabric, i.e. brushing it and making it suede-like. Soft-brushed fleece is usually 100% cotton)
This seems to be more like what you're looking for, but may be a little long:
$35 at target. Polyester & rayon http://www.target.com/Mossimo-Black-Doub...
These are shorter: http://www.target.com/Mossimo-Supply-Cot...

This one's corduroy:

You'd be surprised at all the accidentally vegan stuff you can find.
I just found a few online that you might like:

Here's a message board about someone in the same predicament, there are a few replies, I didn't check them but there might be something there you haven't seen:

Check out Pangea (www.veganstore.com). I'm roughly five feet short, and the pea coats came slightly below my hips. I will warn you that they run very small, though.
Alternative Outfitters (www.alternativeoutfitters.com) may also have some stylish coats, but not pea coats.
Sew peas together. XD
I noticed that they are made out of polarfleece. A very lightweight and shoddy material except for lightwear and linings. The price is exorbitant. Many vegans I know see wool as an appropriate byproduct for themselves. You will pay a lot less for an authentic wool pea coat that will last you for many, many years.
They look QUITE overpriced for what you get. It might be more beneficial to talk over with a seasoned and older vegan your reasons for eschewing a real wool pea coat. The ones on the sites just aren't going to last.
