Dehydrating canned fruit?!
Answers: Wondering if it is possible to take canned fruit and dehydrate in the oven...anyone ever do this???
I'm not sure about the oven because i have a dehydrator but it seems to that if you do it on a very low temp for several hours, I dunno, like 8 or so, it might work. The real purpose of my reply is a recommendation. Canned pineapple rings are awesome when dried! I think they'd do pretty nicely in the oven, too, and they are so sweet on their own that I wouldn't even think of addind additional sugar. Good luck, I hope it turns out well!!!
First of all, why would you want to do that? You proabaly could dehydrate, but with all the additives that are added to canned fruits, it probably wouldn't taste very good. Just use fresh fruit.
not in practice, however it does sound possible. i'd say wrap in foil so you dont set the place on fire, and then put it in at 150 for a couple of hrs.
also try a crockpot, and wrap in wax paper instead.
also try the site below for further info. just go straight to the Drying part
A lot of nutrients are in the juices. Also fruit has the most nutrients in them when digested raw. When you cook fruit you are depleting the fruit of its nutrients. It is best to eat fruit raw.
Yuck!!! Just buy some dried fruit or get a dehydrater. They don't cost that much and would work way better than an oven would.
