Why do so many veggies think?!
Nature produces an even amount of male and female chicks, and so, even on a free range organic egg farm, where are the males? They were killed at hatching.
Cheese is produced using rennet which is extracted from a calve's stomach, and dairy cows are impregnated yearly, then have their calves taken away so that they can be milked for human consumption. Many male calves are killed because they are surplus to stock- just like the male chicks as both milk and eggs are products of female animals only.
Cows are burdened with huge udders, and are overmilked. It is also not natural for humans to drink cow's milk.
Do these things not count as wrong- doing? Is killing an animal for meat the only way of being cruel to an animal?
I personally think most veggies are really good people who stop eating meat because they care, but vegans do more resear
Answers: buying meat is wrong, and yet think dairy and eggs are okay, even though farming these things does involve killing things, just not directly for meat?

It takes a while for the truth to sink into people's consciousness. They know, but it is just a little voice in their heads, till they are actually confronted with it by seeing it, or maybe someday it just clicks in their moral section of the brain. Meanwhile, you can keep informing people, and take the misinformed people by the hand and show them the facts.
Yes, we are not perfect, but that shouldn't be our excuse to turn our consciousness off. Evolution baby! Look how far we have come from slavery, civil rights (though not seen in some countries), and equal rights (again not seen in some countries)! See, we still need to work on human issues. Animals will be next to be dealt with! Keep on thinking!
It doesn't matter, you won't stop people buying it, so won't stop the problem, so you might as well do what you feel is right.
Maybe they see it as a step in the right direction? I mean, I wouldn't think, "Well, the earth's polluted anyway, so I'm going to dump this pan of oil on those baby seals over there."
I honestly believe that nobody lives up to their ideals. We could all be a little less hypocritical.
Many aren't aware of those things. Hopefully those who do it for animal welfare eventually do better once they do realize it. It took me 9 years to totally realize that I wasn't doing much, if any, better by being lacto-ovo.
vegetarian and vegan, completely different things.
vegetarians dont eat meat. vegans dont eat meat, eggs, milk, or anything that comes from animals.
I don't think it's fair to cast judgement on people that are already doing the best they can to not support the meat industry...
I'm a vegan but I feel nothing but comraderie for fellow vegans and vegetarians. I also respect omnivoures, despite my differences with them (I'm even married to an omni).
I don't think it's right to condemn people for what they eat, and not everyone has the ability, time or motivation to eat a completely balanced vegan diet and would need eggs or cheese. I understand that not everyone has the same ethical views as I do, nor do they share the same concerns.
I am sure many vegetarians are aware of the ethical concerns regarding the egg and dairy industry and they have come to terms with it in their own way. Maybe they buy free range eggs or buy rennet-free cheese. Regardless, it isn't my place or yours to push it in their face.
Many people need to make the transistion slowly. If they just one day decide hummm I think I will stop eating all meat and diary they are surely setting them selves up for failure. I have seen more vegitarians go vegan then them going back to eating meat. Lets not preach to the choir here at least vegetarians and vegan are doing their part.
There are actually ethical options to all of the above.
With regards to milk, there is actually a small organic daily farm around me that has "voluntary milking station" whereby the cow just wonders in when they need a good milking. It is actually a really neat things to see. They are all grazing cattle. Sort of a happy life, I do not object to buying milk from that farm, or the co-op which support that farm. If
Almost all commercial cheese is rennet free these days, there are plenty of alternatives.
However I don't eat meat because I find industrialized farming practices objectionable. If people really did give a **** about animals, the would stop polluting waterways, air and developing their natural habitats.
people actually gave a **** about animals they would work tirelessly to protect the earth, reduce reuse and recycle do sustain the fragile ecosystems and habitats animals need to survive.
Nothing pisses me off more than a self riotous vegan in an SUV.
Not everyone cuts meat out of their diets because of animal welfare. Sometimes, they do it for other reasons, such as religious and other reasons. But I am an omnivore. I respect your choices, but i have my own set of beliefs. I also know a lot of vegetarians and one or two vegans. I can tell you from their experiences that if you want to change someone's mind and help them to crossover to the veggie/vegan side, your best bet is to not put their choices down, but instead educate. That means respecting their wishes, even if you do not like them.
Most "veggies" as you call us don't eat eggs unless we are beginners or as I like to call them flexitarians because they only eat less meat so they can stop being so fat... and cows need to be milked or there udders get sore..I know my uncle has cows and if you dont milk them it just leaks out and cause problems
