How long should i cook my med steak for?!

Question: I guarantee this is the right answer, I love to cook and steak is one of my favorite foods besides seafood. Not to mention I've worked for Outback steakhouse and Longhorn Steakhouse. Cook on med-hi heat, depending on the thickness of the steak this is the basic times. For 1" cook 6 minutes first side, 4 minutes after turning. 1 1/4", 7 min. first side, then 5 min after turning, 1 1/2", 7 min, then 6 min., and for 1 3/4", 8 min then 7 min. Do not press the steak or use a lid, you want the juices to stay in. If you like it a little crisp, add a tspn. oil to skillet first, season your steak well. I use creole seasoning and worcestershire before putting it on. Once the steak is cooked, let sit for a few minutes so all the juices don't leave.

anyway, i found this helpful chart that breaks it down according to size and type.

22 mins on high flame
turn ever 4-6 min

Depends on how thick the steak is. You need a meat thermometer. The internal temperature should be around 135 degrees F.

only rednecks eat their steaks medium. If you were a real man you'd eat that **** raw. *heart*

about 5 seconds then enjoy the nice blood

hi

You should cook it by feel. When you push on the meat, it should have the same feel as the pad below your index finger for medium/medium -rare. For rare steaks, it would have the same feel as the pad below your thumb. For done (yuck), the pad below your little finger.
