Do you find Vegans really irritating?!
Answers: The ones that preach to meat eaters I mean
Just as a matter of personal preference, I avoid vegans in general where I can. They are just too peculiar and obsessive for my tastes. Although I am acquainted with quite a few "cheatgans" who have attended my dinner parties.
No, but I do find meat-eaters who preach to vegetarians annoying.
I've seen my share of both on this forum. There are those from both dietary views that want to force their opinion on you in a boastful condescending way and there are others who just want to let their voices be heard and maybe share alittle knowledge.
absolutely - used to work with a raving vegan a couple of years ago - she used to give us lectures on not eating meat, not wearing leather or having leather handbags (a bit difficult for me as I have a business selling leather handbags!) - what used to really make me laugh though was how she used to buy "immitation" bacon - looked like the real thing, smelt like the real thing but of course wasn't - you would think that they wouldn't want to eat something that resembled the very thing they were looking to avoid - meat! She never looked healthy - like the walking dead.
I hate it when i make a really nice meal and then i find someone in our group is a Vegan! Argh its annoying, however its fine if they tell me :)
Anyone who preaches to anyone is irritating. But with that said, I'm remembering the girlfriend in Super Size Me, preaching about how her boyfriend can stand to eat ham, and saying, "You know you're feeding into this evil machine! Where is the disconnect here?" And that was really, really irritating.
I hate that factory farming makes it evil to eat food that tastes good. But you know, I eat it anyway.
I used to have a vegan roommate whose hair didn't grow. He only needed a haircut every 4 months or so.
not really but did know a Brazilian vegan and she was a pain in the neck for other reasons.
a little bit, yeah. They do make a big deal about how they don't use animal products AT ALL. But as a Vegetarian, eating Milk and cheese doesn't bother me in the least. What I find far more annoying is people trying to justify their omnivorously with insults.
Could never understand the health implication. Hippo's feed solely on vegetation and water and look at the size of them.
I have never met any that preach, I know they are out there though. They make people trying to help animals look VERY bad. But I find the meat eaters that come in here that insult us and say really stupid things like "vegetables feel pain too" even more annoying. Go back to school people.
Please show me these preachy vegans. Like the Yeti and the Loch Ness Monster, they are often talked about but I am yet to see one.
Thalesgirl,
I'm vegan and my hair grows far too fast. My hairdresser got rich because of me.
Yes I do....
BTW don't run for mayor play for England that tackle in the friendly you did against the German team was class.
I find it hilarious that I am often accused of "preaching"
every time I am cooking, one of my flat mates comes in and says something along the lines of " fake meat again? " or " when will you learn to eat meat ?" . I will always refute/ discuss with them.
Then later I am accused of preaching. But I am not the one initiating these discussions, and I never attack their diet, simply defend mine.
see- you have come here, and attacked the Vegan group, we have not gone to your section to attack you.
Unless you find "those" stuff really caring you and others. I agree to you. Commonly people do not appreciate those values. Come on, it's a good thing Boris 4 Mayor!. We are still living with harmonious people around us.
In a day, at least 5-6 of them anxious to see a vegan, often they are same familiar people teasing me, make fun of me in the public like...hi "veggie"..."those beasts are created for us"...etc. But I just quite, calm, and often smile at them. But you know, I feel pity most of them never been told "why" vegetarianism. But sometimes the opportunity arises in bloom moon to tell "someone closest" about the truth. Take this as example...
My boss suggested me to have an aquarium at visitors lobby. But I told him "Sir, I feel wrong to captivate or imprison them". Hearing that my boss replied "Hey, I"M DISAPPOINTED, I HATE YOUR PHILOSOPHY", then he just walked away. I think he felt insulted. But, you know what happened on the next day? He even removed the fish tank from his office.
***(For your info, I'm a prison officer and counselor. He is my Superintendent. We only imprison and punish those offenders, not the innocents).
Listen Boris 4 Mayor!...in a day a lot of them cross the border, viewed peculiarly when we are eating. But not all of them I confront why should they become a vegetarian. But always plea to god to create such opportunity to "speak out" for humane kind and innocent animals.
yeah...... along with their pointed ears and "its not logical captain ".comments.
Not really, but I remember when I had planned to make pasta with a cream broccoli sauce for my vegetarian daughters and their vegan friend didn't seem like leaving. So I made pasta with broccoli and chilis with a good dousing of olive oil instead. Then I laid the table and their Vegan friend said, 'Don't cook for me, I'm going home.' That's when you start thinking about a bloody sacrifice!
Deluded by societal norm. It's not easy to live among those majority.
The school teachers and other kids often force my daughter to eat government promoted free meal and dairy milk. She always grievance to us, and now my wife packing for her vegan meal daily.
So now, which is which?
I've only seen one or two preachy, pushy, mean veggers and they were actually vegetarians, not vegans (a recent few posts come to mind...) They post, ranting on about meat-eaters and stuff.
I haven't met a single vegan on this forum that has 'preached' to an omnivore except in response to a condescending, confrontational, judgemental question (such as this one?). In fact I communicate outside of this forum with a few of the more prominent vegans on this site, and they're wonderful people and we have all expressed our distate for 'preaching' and lecturing anyone about their dietary choices.
No. Though I do find mention of and especially pictures of Boris Johnson very irritating. The man's a buffoon.
Funny how some people saying 'yes' then go on to describe one vegan they knew that they didn't like. Intelligent way to judge a sizeable group of people, most of whom you've never met.
Anyone preaching about anything irritates me. I find the most 'preachy' people on this forum are mainly - not exclusively - people describing themselves as 'flexitarian'.
No, because I've never met one but I do find it irritating when a meat eater comes into the V & V forum without any intent on learning more about being a vegetarian or a vegetarian diet and tries to provoke others. Please read the community guidelines prior to asking a question of this nature.
i find this subject kinda amusing as vegetables are living as well. dont they feel guilty skinning them alive and chucking them into boiling water?
