Would you date a very successful butcher?!

Question: I am not trying to be funny or sarcastic. I just want to observe how people feel.

If You met a guy or girl who was the absolute love of your life. You just loved them so much and they had a great personality. Then you find out that they are a butcher would you still date them or will you break it off? The person is a meat enthusiast and absolutely see being a butcher as their dream job. They even own one of the biggest meat specialty shops in town because they are so passionate about meat. They eat meat constantly and love doing what they do. Could you live with the fact that the person you love so much slaughters animals and chops them up for sale?

I'm not trying to make you angry or get you mad. I just want an honest opinion. I don't care if you said that you would leave them or if you stayed because its is YOUR OPINION.

Would you give up on your love of your life or put up with their life that revolves around eating and preparing meat?

I think opposites can attract... and this can lead to some really awesome arguements and then hot make-up you-know-what time. But overall I think the relationship would be very volatile, and though I might date someone like that, I don't think I would want to have them for a partner for life. I think the love of one's life should probably share their sentiments about animals, and share political views as well.

Certainly if they were rich ("successful") that wouldn't make any difference either, because I would rather be poor but completely satisfied.

Honey, if by "successful" you mean they have money I am so there!

Helk, relationships are all about the compromise.

Yes

Honestly, if they can live with me NOT eating meat, I don't see what the problem is. That butcher might be a way more moral person than me in other ways. In fact, he probably is ;-)

are you kidding??? free steaks... yum!

No, i would definitely not. I am a very strong vegetarian and I could not live with that everyday =(

You people who answered "Yes! absolutely" make me mad...

No. I'd have to let him go. I couldn't date someone who was THAT into meat. Sounds stupid, but I just couldn't. I became a vegetarian for a reason, and being around butchers make me feel physically sick to my stomach. I can date someone who eats meat, I don't mind that just because I personally can't change them unless they want to change their eating habits. But as a job, NO.

It's a business and his occupation. I don't see any problem if both are emotionally mature. . Only someone emotionally insecure and without interpersonal skills would see this as volatile and problematic.

If you would date a normal meat eating guy, I don't see how big of a difference that makes. Even though he's selling it, the other guy basically has the same mindset and morals.

Unless he is the wealthy owner/boss of the slaughterhouse.

vegetarrians r crazy... eat meat... y else would good put meat on earth for u.... ur ancestors survived on meat... hitler was a vegeterrian... jeez u all want to be like hitler

No i would not ever date a butcher no matter there personality i would very carefuly consider even dateing someone who eats meat

personally, i couldn't love anyone who worked in the meat industry. i just wouldn't be attracted to him in the first place.

Wow, that's a tough one. I don't think that would work out... I'm flexible about a lot of other things, like race, religion, physical appearance, income, etc. But veganism is such an intrinsic part of who I am that I can't imagine being in a serious relationship with someone who has a completely opposite worldview. I think there's some truth to "opposites attract", but it seems like there need to be some shared values and beliefs for it to work. Can you imagine a dedicated pro-lifer dating a dedicated pro-choicer?

No, I can't imagine the type of person who could kill an animal. I need to be with someone who has a compassion for them. I would have no problem leaving the love of my life, there are probably more of them out there.
