Do Vegans feed their dogs or cats meat products?!
Answers: Our dog is fed with chicken and mix of vegetarian products made for animals. That way we don't have to worry that our pet will get enough protein for his diet and at the same time we don't have to deal with meat all the time.
I'm not sure whether they do or not but I do know there are meat free pet foods out there for vegan pets.
It depends on the person and how much they against eating meat and if it has to do with killing animals or health or something. I know a vegan and they still feed their dogs meat products (dry kind). But I'm sure there are other vegans who don't feed their pets meat products, they do make veggie pet food.
yea. they need meat
I feed my great dane and my cats meat-based diets. Because they are CARNIVORES. My guinea pigs get fresh veggies because they're HERBIVORES. My fish get a variety because they are OMNIVORES.
I eat veggies, fruits, etc because we are HERBIVORES.
You're supposed to eat how the gods made you. Not to your 'preference'. These people that feed their dogs meatless diets make me hurt. It's just not a good idea.
I don't have pets, but I certainly hope so - at least to cats! A dog can survive on a vegetarian diet, but cats are strictly carnivorous.
If someone is doing it for animals rights' reasons, it'd be silly to make sure your entire life is cruelty free and then feed an animal companion a meet derived product.
Wild dogs and wolves are natural carnivores. But domestic dogs, I don't know...when I went vegetarian I wanted to buy soy based ration for my dog, but my mother thought it was absurd to force the dogs to follow my diet....It's funny though...my dog likes TSP... I think he would do fine without meat...but its just weird the idea of a vegan dog.
Some do. Some do not.
The only way to avoid feeding a cat meat is to not have a cat. There ARE vegan or vegetarian cat foods available, but ask your vet about them and see how they laugh. I know because I did. As someone who cares about animals, I have no right to risk my cats' health no matter how disgusting that bag of cat food smells. Ew, and it does smell revolting. I hate feeding them meat, but it has to be done. :)
I've had my cat for long since before I went vegan. Furthermore, while I can survive without meat, my kitty cannot. I look for the more natural brands and give those to her. That said, she goes nuts when I dish up soy ice cream, and she seems to like potatoes. One day my boyfriend and I were eating falafel and fries at my place, and when I dropped a fry, he said she was on it and gulped it in two bites--pretty good for a 16-year-old cat.
But she only gets people's food once in a while. Most of the time, it's her stinky canned stuff--ick.
It depends, but a strict vegan probably wouldn't, because they don't use animal products. No leather, snake/alligator skin, silk, wool, stuff like that.
i don't have a pet dog or cat (i don't have ANY pets)..but some dogs can survive off of vegetarian diets. i really want a pet rabbit :) they are vegan, cute, fun and sillllly.. :) xoxoxox
