Well, gas is typically because of what you eat. There are vegan versions of Bean-O, you can try to get some online for him as a stocking stuffer, but I think that might be a bit harsh.

I guess he should get some manners and go to the bathroom or something... I know people like this too, they aren't vegetarian though, it's someone in my close family that farts without any discretion and without warning, and it's always so awful... it could stun a yak.

I suppose stress boundary issues and personal space issues regarding this, and tell him to either leave the room, or to take vegan anti-gas medicine, or maybe alter his diet... typically food with lots of cellulose (indigestible fiber) does not irritate the bacteria in the colon, therefore less or no gas - simply because our bowels cannot absorb it, nor can our intestinal flora utilize it. So maybe he should focus on more indigestible fibers rather than digestible (water soluble) ones.

It's probably the greens..... We fart but we look good!! x

A cucumber is shaped that way for a purpose

Morningstar veggie corndogs. They are made of soy.

This question is a real stinker. I'm blown away.

if he's truly a veggie, then he shouldn't be farting a lot.

or he could be eating a lot of beans all the time. that would do it. but most non-meat products shouldn't be doing that to him.

I think this is less a matter of vegetarianism, more just a problem of bad diet. Does he eat a lot of processed food? Does he binge drink?

I am a vegetarian and I dont really fart a lot...Maybe this guy has a flatulence problem that is deeper than his vegetarianism

Charcoal tablets help - they an be bought from the chemist - they work on animals too!!

It probably isn't the fact that he is veggie. People act differently with different foods. Try a product called Beano. It has enzymes that help digest. I know people that say it works great.

Lol yes it is a problem. Does he eat a lot of soya? Like the fake meat sausages and quorn? This caused er problems with my parents when they turned veggie. They dont eat it now! Try cutting back on the soya and/or quorn to see if it helps. Otherwise perhaps something like windeeze might help.

Some say Beano helps.
I think he's eating meat.

Teach him to go out 'for a bit of fresh air'.
Being vegetarian does not mean having to live just on greens.
Fruits and pulses are vegetarian too!!

Visit you local Indian grocery shop and discover the million and one vegetarian foods.

Good luck!

just proves that veggies are full of sh1t

Sounds like he is eating a lot of beans to make up for his protein deficiency. I would pull him off to have a talk with him. Perhaps you should give him tumtums.

I am glad I don't have to worry about that stuff. I am a meat eater just like bears and other animals. I don't care how mad people will get at me for eating meat but god left it out for man. He specifically said which meats were acceptable.

I bet he lives on a lot of microwavable meals, doesn't he?

Even if they're packed with veggies, the sauces and extra processed junk in them cause intestinal issues which result in gas. He may also gulp his food-which isn't going to help depleat extra air intake.

Only when I am SICK (which, delightfully, I am horrificially sick at the moment. Mmm... emetrol, crackers and sprite) do I want to run away from my own bottom.

A 'fart' should have very little scent at all. As should your poo (even your urine-it should be clear or nearly clear) . If you're eating right, your body won't have rotting trash to shove out the back end of you and therefore-little scent is produced. If any.

We humans do some really horrific things to our bodies. Sounds like he's following the crowd. =D Force some lettuce, yogurt and orange juice down his throat and see if that makes him less smelly.

I am Veggie and cannot say I have had this problem

maybe consult a doctor or dietitian ?

Maybe he eats his food too quickly and swallows a lot of air with it - try making him chew his food.

Drinking peppermint tea or ginger tea (boil a piece of root ginger in water and drink the water afterwards) can sometimes help get rid of excess gas.

If he's eating a "healthy" diet with plenty of fibre, he may not actually be eating enough fat to...er...lubricate things. If his diet is very low fat, try adding fattier food (e.g. salads dressed in olive oil), but don't go overboard, obviously, for the sake of his arteries.

Without wanting to give too much information, I find if I eat something very fibrous for breakfast (e.g. porridge with chopped apple and dry fruits) with a cup of very strong coffee I have to make sure I'm sitting very near the toilet for the next half hour or so, but I'm then untroubled for the rest of the day....

HA! I'm a Vegetarian guy and I have the same problem. I have really bad-smelling farts.

i hav absolutly no idea im only saying this to get points lol

I've been a vegetarian for 6 years and almost never have gas. The number one reason that most people have gas is that they are not properly hydrated. Sounds weird, but it's true. He might need more water.
The second thing is drinking liquids with meals. Beverages should be reserved for after meals since it can dilute the natural enzymes in the digestive system and cause gas.
Third, he might need to cut back on junk foods and eat healthy.

buy him some beno

beano works wonders, and it's made from a fungus (mushroom) so perfectly acceptable to use.

He may have an intolerance problem to something he's eating (alcohol, wheat, dairy?)-- try beano if he's not consuming any of the above, a yeast cleanse if it's after alcohol or sugar (or white bread or potatoes), and cooking things that are gluten-free if it's after wheat... Dairy gas might get better with lactaid...

If he's veg, he may be more open to checking out a naturopath? they're very knowledgeable and can get him smelling like roses in no time.

Many people who have switched from a poor diet to a healthier diet experience this. Usually it is due to one of two reasons, or both: poor digestion due to poor diet of the past; or eating healthier but still not healthy enough.

I had this problem at first and found that is was, for me, mainly due to poor digestion, highly processed and cooked foods, and sugar. Sugar really feeds the wrong kind of bacteria in the gut. Eliminate the sugar. Yeah, if you are used to eating oatmeal with sugar, it's not going to taste like much without, so you can sub. malt for sugar. Malt (rice malt) is really cheap at the Chinese/Asian markets and herbal medicine stores. It can be found at health-food stores too, but costs way too much for me. Also, add to the diet some benificial bacteria in the form of soy yogurts, miso, natto, tempeh, pickles, sauerkraut, and other fermented products (not the fake ones made with vinegar instead of natural fermentation typically found with pickles, sauerkraut, etc. -- white vinegar kills the good bacteria in the gut, the opposite of what you want -- use white vinegar for cleaning the floor, it's not a food). And don't cook these products. When using miso, add it to your soup after it has cooled down. Avoid heating over the point where the heat will kill the enzymes. Same goes with all fresh foods -- cooking kills it and renders it very difficult to digest. A raw diet or mostly raw diet will help a lot with digestion. This is also why stir fry is good, because you just quickly heat up the food, but it is still crisp and fresh tasting.

Go to the health-food store and find some beneficial digestive enzyme pills. They will help. You can find these at the Chinese herbalist stores too (and usually better and cheaper). The kind I've seen and used are called PO CHAI PILLS.

I tried Beano brand drops, and the original formula was great (early 90s - made from bean extract - live enzyme) but they altered their recipe and it now sucks and doesn't work at all for me (plus it's made of fish extract). I used to need beano every time I ate beans or big meals, but not for the last 10 years -- my digestion is so much better, eating more from the garden, less from the box.

Yeah because meat eaters' bodily functions smell like flowers and kittens and love.

He probably has a disorder, or health problem. I been vegetarian for more then 30 years and never had that problem..................

weird.. i am a veggie but that doesn't happen to me.. anyways, have him try beano for gas..

if u love him u have to let ur nose make a sacrifice... :) good luck!!

dont kill any living creature for ur own pleasure

Bacon should help
