How old were you when you stopped eating meat?!

Question: I was ten when I became vegetarian because I hated the taste of meat. I am 14 now and am still very healthy. What about other people?

I was in sixth grade, so I think i was about 10 or 11 (I was young for my grade). I'm now 22 and still perfectly healthy, in fact I'm healthier than a lot of people I know. My boyfriend keeps saying that when I get pregnant I'll be craving meat, but I doubt it. At this point in time even the smell of meat makes me feel disgusted.

Don't know yet; haven't died yet.

I tried to quit meat when I was in 4th Grade but it lasted less then a week. Most of my life, I've had issues with the idea of eating animals. Last year, I became vegetarian at 38 when my daughter decided she wanted to be vegetarian. I told her that I had thought about it also and we could do it together. It's very helpful having another vegetarian in the family (my husband and other three children are not) and ironically, her will powers blows mine away.

I've never eaten meat in my life. My parents raise me from a baby on a vegan diet. Its so easy.

Go Vegan!

I was vegetarian from birth. My mom became vegetarian shortly before she got pregnant with me, and lots of people gave her grief about it, repeating the bull that by not eating meat, my growth would be stunted and my brain development would be retarded. Well, I'm 5'10" (several inches taller than my mom) and have always gone to honors schools and gifted programs. Whoops, they were wrong! Morons.

I'm very trim and healthy, only suffering from the occasional winter cold along with everyone else. I'm 27 and have lived quite happily and healthily without meat for my whole life, though I certainly don't get up in people's faces about being a vegetarian. I just go about my business and let them go about theirs.

Lexie is wrong. Millions of people are vegetarian around the world and they are not dead and not more sick than meat-eaters. I'm Vegetarian (vegan) since 10 years and I'm in a very good condition (according to doctor checkup).
I personaly know people who are vegan since their are BORN. Mean they never eat any animals product in all their life. They have 60, 35, 10 and 6 years old (its a 3 generation vegan familly living in switzerland). All the childrens never get any vaccin, never eat medicine and are very rarely sick.
To answer your question I become vegetarian at about 6 years old, then I give up (familly pressure) until I reach 28 years old. At 28 years old I suddenly wake up and I become vegetarian again, then vegan. I will be vegan for the rest of my life, this without any doubts in my mind.
Good luck for you, and congratulation to be veg at 14... try to read lot of books about animals rights, it will help you to be well armed against all critisisms you will have to face in your life.

I am a pesce-pollotarianist. Pesce-seafood pollo-poultry. After seeing many documentaries/reports/pictures etc about the way certain animals are treated before and during slaughter, and the way ti was all done, it turned me off certain typed of meat. Before i met my fiance i was pretty much a chicken only person anyway. He introduced me to pork/lamb/beef. I also do not eat anything with gelatine, or cheese (rennet) or gravy that isn't vege or chicken. I know it sounds like i'm doing the extreme vegan thing in that regard.

I have tried twice in my life to become a fully fledged vegetarian, and my body could not handle my cravings. I do not claim to be a vegetarian now, as i know fish and chicken is meat.

I think it is good to also have changes in your diet. If you get stuck on eating the same fod every day or week your body doesn't like other things, and that makes you lethargic.

If I don't eat meat I die.

Seven years ago, I was 13.

18 years, 7 months and 9 days. It was on 9th March 1986.
My children have always been vegetarian.

27, when I meet my neighbor and she educated me on being immoral.

When I was about nine.
It lasted until I was 11 or so, then I started eating meat again [minimal amounts] because of pressure from family and friends.
However, about one year ago I decided I was sick of it and became vegan.
I feel so much happier and healthier,
and don't have to live with the guilt of causing (or supporting) pain to animals.
I doubt I'll ever eat meat again, no matter how much pressure is placed upon me to do so.
