What supplement would be best to help my body get the right nutrients?!
What vitamins are the best for vegetarians to take?
I also just got a new bike and I plan to start using it. Would amino acids be critical if I am going to be using a bike for exercise?
Thank you.
Answers: I am a vegetarian. I have tons of tofurky products in my freezer. I am into making myself nutritious organic low fat meals. I am wondering if I should get on a regular routine of taking vitamins. A while ago I was at the doctor and I did get blood work. The test showed that I was not anemic so I know I am getting enough iron. I do eat dairy products when I can but I do not really prefer them.

Following my experience you dont need any supplement. What you need is to eat many varieties of veggies, fruits (if possible at least 50% raw), then you will get all you need from Ms Nature. Dont use too much dairy product. You will be surprise to know that dairy product dont help about calcium, and its almost the opposite (dairy products contains calcium, but the proportion with the magnesium are not good for our body to keep it). All the story about dairy product begin with the big power of Netsle company, who spend billions of dollars to brain wash people and make everybody believe that dairy product are needed for humans. I know about what I told, as I'm a Swiss citizen, Netsle is a swiss company and I'm not pround of them.
If one day you become vegan (no more dairy product and no more eggs), just keep an eye on your B12 level. Some product, like "marmite" contains B12 and are vegan. If you eat that, you wont have any problem. If not, you will maybe have no problem as well, but keep your B12 level under control (once or twice a year is my recomandation, then adapt the frequency depending on the variation).
You can get carrenced with any kind of diet. But if you eat lot of veggetables (green vegetable mean iron, calcium, etc..) and enough fresh fruits, you will have a good heath. Reduce sugar and fat. You can probably find more specific informations with Dr Hans Diehl, who is not vegan, but who is helping people to get better health with strict vegan diet. Many other Doctor can confirm that (Dr. Ch. Tal Schaller, etc..). For sure plenty other will say the opposite way, so just test on yourself, like I did... then you will know.

I just got this from my organic life website:
Don’t take vitamin supplements. Get your nutrients out of whole foods, not synthetic supplements. I’ve never believed in single nutrients and fractionated or fragmented compounds, because they cannot provide what mother nature can. Now the Expert Report found strong evidence that taking vitamin supplements can increase the risk of cancer and that “the best source of nourishment is food” as well as the best source of cancer-fighting compounds. Some studies show that supplements can create an imbalance of nutrients possibly disturbing the body’s ability to protect itself against cancer.
Same for the exercising. It can be all from food! Just keep making your low fat (really, you can add fat to your meals if you are vegan/vegetarian cause the fat that is in meat is so much! Even chicken breast with no skin is up to 30 grams of fat per serving) organic meals! Just start to incorporate different grains and legumes for a variety of foods that may have new nutrients that you may need!
None. I take no supplements in the form of vitamins. They are a scam. Real food is the answer. Fresh fruits and vegetables, grains, legumes, beans...
I've been a bicycle racer for a long time and never took supplements after altering my diet for the better -- not needed. Real food is far cheaper too. Cheaper still if you start a garden.
Amino acids? No need to focus specifically on one nutrient etc. We need them all. Just eat a quality fresh organic varied diet, and eat for good digestion -- such as do not mix foods that do not digest well together.
Take a multi-vitamin. None of the vegers here will tell you to take supplements because that would be admitting that the diet isn't always healthy.
Cover the bases. Take the multi-vitamin.
