Silicon dioxide in foods?!

Question: I recently spent the night at a family member's house and when we were making the taco meat mix, I looked at the ingredients and found that this supposedly all natural vegetarian alternative for taco meat not only had the all natural ingredients: soy protein, etc. but it also had silicon dioxide in it. What would the silicon dioxide be used for in this product? Silicon dioxide, from what I read on Wikipedia, is found in nature and it's found in quartz, sand, and cement. Any feedback would be of some help.

this mite help answer ur question: http://www.ivanfraser.com/articles/healt...

sand is natural but not so tasty

why would u even believe a single word on wikipedia
anyone could have wrote that
the truth is any thing thats packaged and isnt certified organic has tons of chemicals in it that cause u to get sick

anything you eat premade will have preservatives, so it lasts longer

these preservatives inadvertantly SHORTEN your life

the only way (and I am not too sure if it is even 100% effective) to maintain good health and not have the extra chemicals is to grow it yourself

not too far into the future all food will be produced by hydroponics, meaning not even being grow in mother Earth to at least put the chemicals into

Silicon dioxide is usually used in powders and spices, it keeps the product from clumping and helps with the flow. Its kind of like a dry lubricant.

it is a energy suppliment to alow vegetarians to funtion at the pace of society and not drag there knuckles on the ground because they have no spark in them

As a flexitarian vegetarian, I find that it is easier to use all natural ingredients and speices rather than those "vegetarian approved" processed things which are loaded with preservatives, dessicants and anti-clumping materials like SiO2.
