I have been a vegetarian for five months now and...?!
Answers: i want to go vegan but i want to know what i can eat iknow no dairy products or eggs but are there dairy products in tortillas?also what do vegans order when they go out to eat for all meals and what salad dressings are vegan?
Why do you want to go vegan when you have no idea what it means or entails?
YOU decide what you're okay with eating and supporting, then find an appropriate label to fit it, not the other way around.
Learn to read ingredient panels.
To explain once again:
NO vegetarians eat meat. Fish and chicken are meat.
Lacto vegetarians - milk, no eggs.
Ovo vegetarians - eggs, no milk.
Lacto-ovo vegetarians - eggs and milk
Strict vegetarians - strictly plant based diet. Some call it a vegan DIET (which is NOT the same as being vegan) No animal products. No dairy, no eggs, no honey, nothing animal-derived.
Vegans - plant-based diet (as above). Vegan implies moral concern for animals and extends to lifestyles as well. We avoid animal products in our consumables such as shampoo, make up, cleaning products, and so on. No leather, wool, suede, silk, and so on, and we avoid animal testing.

About Tortillas I dont know. Usually the "Italian salad sauce" is vegan (but never the french dressing).
When I go out, I just say to the chef that I dont eat any animal products (and I list them for make sure he/her understand) and I ask what he can compose for me (rice with vegetables, big mixed salad, etc. etc...).
Sometimes I bring my own food if I know I will be in a place where people eat ONLY meat (yes yes everything exist).

Becoming a vegan now is a lot easier than it was when I first became a lacto-vegetarian (which was probably before most YA users were born), otherwise I might have considered it myself. It's easier now because:
(1) there are more vegan products on the market, and they are more widely available in supermarkets instead of just in the overpriced healthfood shops;
(2) product ingredient labelling is much more comprehensive - you can see what is in the product, plus the manufacturer also has to say if there might be traces of dairy or seafood or fish [This is not a concession to vegans nor vegetarians, unfortunately, but it's still useful. It's actually a concession to people who suffer from the most common food allergies - i.e. they also have to list possible traces of tree nuts, peanuts, gluten, wheat, soy, etc. We'll get there eventually! I should point out that labelling legislation varies from country to country. The examples I have given are true for Australia. I believe British labelling is more vegetarian/vegan-friendly.]
Going out for meals is rather a more difficult prospect for vegans, I'm afraid. Unless you go to a specifically vegan or vegetarian restaurant, you will find it almost impossible to order a meal that is strictly vegan. I find it difficult enough to find places that cater for lacto-vegetarians!
There are only so many times you can go Indian, Turkish, Greek or Lebanese. Mexican and Italian are usually a bit iffy, so I normally don't go to those very often, and Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese and Chinese are practically out of the question [fish sauce, oyster sauce, shrimp paste, etc. in just about everything!]. Sri Lankan, you need to make sure they don't put Maldive fish in your curry - to them these flecks of dry, salty fish are just another spice. French, I wouldn't risk either.
Probably the best is the all-you-can-eat sm?rg?sbord (or buffet) - the different items are separate and (usually) have a description, so, using a bit of nous, you can work out whether or not they are safe to put on your plate.

There is dairy milk in tortillas. Most salad dressings and mayonnaise are NOT vegan.
Find for veganized salad dressings and mayonnaise.
