Where are the "purist" vegetarians supposed to get the manure for their organic farms?!

Question: I have seen estimates of up to 21 tons of manure per acre.

Answers: I have seen estimates of up to 21 tons of manure per acre.

There is a movement within the vegan community that advocates "Veganic Gardening". Essentially using composted animal-free organic matter and things like spirulina and liquid feeds like nettle and comfrey.

It's some pretty interesting stuff....I've included 2 links about it :)

How about checking with your local Agriculture Dept. they may be able to lead you to the right place...they usual know the farmers in your area.

I'm answering this like this because your question is like you are looking for manure for your garden ... : )

Chances are they don't use manure. They may use earthworm castings, or their own compost-- vegetable waste, coffee grinds, eggshells, (if they eat eggs). I know many vegetarians who don't use manure for their gardens. Commercial organic farms do not operate them based on the values of "purists". Perhaps you are thinking of vegans vs. vegetarians.

There is one way of getting manure, its caleld vermicomposting and brand is called "Worn POWER", its earthworms eating raw garbage and making it into manure that is better than cow manure.

Farmed goods grown with manure are disgusting. Give me chemicals over manure any day. :P

My dog has some if you want it.

p.s. My parents have never used manure in their gardens, strictly food compost.

Well "purist" vegetarians are pretty much full of it, so I don't think they have any trouble.

Definitely, composting. Nothing more and better than that.

On the other hand, taking care of your soil with compost, will also make worms come in to your "organic farm" and make your soil even better, so, problem solved.

Thanks for the sincere concern. Hope the answer resolves the subject.

And people! We, vegans, ARE also vegetarians. Strict vegetarians.
Vegetarianism is a matter of diet. So a vegan has a strict vegetarian diet.

But, Veganism is not a matter of consumption, and certainly not only a matter of diet, as much as a STATE OF CONSCIENCE that involves every aspect of your life (obviously including your consumption habits).

Just to make that clear, since there′s people that thinks that being a vegan it′s just not eating animals and their secretions (say milk, eggs, bee honey, etc.)

Keep on Vegan!

You are in which country, and what crop you're talking about?

All fertilizers have N ,P,K (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) plus trace elements. Different crop has different requirement and phase of application.

Most countries in S.E Asia are using plant based organic fertilizers like Urea (N), Ammonium Sulfate (NPK), Potash (K) and Ash from oil palm (P).

Pls add more details.

Knew of one lady that would use her exclusively breastfed baby's poops to fertilize her garden! That's pretty pure I would think and helps the circle of life and so on!
