Question: Show your faces! Have you been a vegetarian all your life? If not, how did you become one?

I'm a true vegan and proud. Vegetarians are nothing but vegans in training. It's time to stop training and step up.

I'm not a vegetarian but I would really like to be. I am such a picky eater that it is hard for me to be one. I mainly eat chicken and seafood though. Maybe my goal this year will to be one.

I'm a carnivore and proud of it! Vegetarian is an old Indian word that means "bad hunter."

I am a second generation vegetarian...the cow that my steak came from only ate grains and vegetables.

I've been a vegetarian for around 10 months now.
I haven't been a vegetarian all my life because in the house I grew up in, it was very old fashioned, slightly traditional, meaning that for meals, we have meat, whether it be pork, chicken, lamb, beef.
When I moved out just over a year ago ( I'm 19 now. ) I watched a program on BBC3 about how animals are killed purely for meat. The program actually had me in tears and I then realised that it was now my decision whether I ate meat or not - which I chose not to do, basically because I saw the footage and could tell that the animals were in pain, despite meat eaters saying they aren't.
I will admit though it is very difficult being a vegetarian and although there is more veggie options available, eating out can sometimes be tricky as I'm usually left with pasta or salad to eat!

I"m a vegetarian and proud of it! No i havent been a veg for all my life but i plan to be for the rest of it.

Moi. I was raised a meat eater, and became a vegan for animals rights!

oh oh me! im veggie and proud =] and i have been veggie for two years now

I just decided to become a vegetarian, like a week ago, it was something I was already considering, but then I was researching it on goveg.com, and saw some really cruel videos and that was when I was sure of it and decided to become a vegetarian.

Vegan! Yay! :) Went vegetarian in my teens, started to transition to vegan while in the US Army, became more and more vegan with time and now I have been totally vegan for well over a year now...!

I went veg about six years ago and vegan a few months later. Vegan pride, man!

Now, how/why did I become veg? After I turned 30, my body started to have trouble digesting meat. One day, I was so disgusted with the stuff I was eating that I decided to go veg. I did a bit of reading, found out about the milk/veal connection and how egg-laying hens are treated and decided to go vegan.

Oh yeah, Im a level 6 vegan, I wont eat anything that casts a shadow

I have been a vegarian for 3 years when I was having trouble with my weight and trying to find a healthier diet. I read in a magizine that of all obese people vegetarians were only 14%. So i tried it. I tried being vegan. Failed. Not only because of lack of willpower but lack of money. Thats an expensive diet!

I a meatarain and honestly believe that it has helped me grow a bigger brain. Evolution says that the prehistoric man evolved a bigger brain by eating meat, which provides extra protein.

I've only been a vegetarian for a little longer than two months but i love it
Woo go animals :]

I have been a vegan for 2 years, I opened my mid and questioned things and started to think about becoming one, then I became one.

vegetarian
since October

i have been a vegatarian for about 4 months i am proud of myself that i stuck it out and have not ate a single drop of an animal for 4 months!!!!! i became one after trying to convice my rents to let me for 3 years then they finally let me.my mom get fraustrated making meals bc i dont eat what my family eats. People are always trying to change me and make me eat meat but nothing will convice me i love animals more than anything!!!!

I'm vegetarian and I'm pretty OK about it. :) I used to want everyone to know I'm vegetarian, but now I'm alright with just myself knowing. Oh, and that guy at the mall...and my hairdresser...and my mom's friend...and you.
Vegetarian for 9 months and counting. How did I become one? One day I bought this huge family pack of ground beef which I would divide up into small portions for pasta dishes and what not, but my daughter put the entire thing in the freezer, and when I got it out to thaw I knew I'd have to finish it off in a couple of days. I ate a lot of hamburgers for the next 2 days, and I just felt so disgusted with having all of that animal flesh inside of me. I gave the rest to a neighbour, and have been vegetarian ever since. I had no intention on becoming vegetarian, but I had no choice. Then I watched the Meet Your Meat videos and my fate was sealed.

I became a vegtarian when i was 10.When i was 12 i became a vegan.I am very proud of myself because it is not easy not to eat the things u r not allowed to.I chose to become a vegetarian and now a vegan for a number of different reason. The fact that i am not eating anything that once was moving,it is healther not eating it,i feel and look better,i have a lot of family and friends who also r either vegetarians or vegans.

Yes I'm veggo and proud. Just converted a year ago, on the weight of all the evidence on health, animal cruelty, and the environmental problems. I feel really alive! The roots of the word Vegetarian means "Life".

Vegetarian here!

I've been a lacto-ovo vegetarian since I was 9 years old (about 13.5 years).

I've since practically stopped eating eggs (unless someone makes a dessert with eggs, or bread, and I eat it...I have a sweet tooth). But yeah, I have a hard time giving up milk products, esp cheese.
