What are things you can do to be an active PETA member?!

Question: That's great you're interested in being active. There are lots of ideas here: http://www.peta.org/actioncenter/

If you're a teen or a young adult, you can join the PETA2 street team to do grassroots activism: http://www.peta2.com/STREETTEAM/index.as...

Good luck!

u should try Yahoo!groups. there are tons of these u can join to help animals. i am currently involved in 2 groups that involve animal rights. its too bad that they only give u 200 cariters to tell the group leader why u want to join! get involved outside of PeTA

Adopt an animal from the shelter and then kill it. Dump the body in a public dumpster.

I'm not a big fan of PETA personally. They do have some great resources, but they can be very extreme- almost to the point of bullying- particularly when they're canvasing for donations. They've been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism. I have never quite understood how a commercial with Alicia Silverstone naked in a pool telling people how wonderful it is being a vegetarian is going to help anyone's credibility. Being vegetarian isn't about being naked to entice young men into vegetarianism. I think most of what they do is purely for shock value.

Be a reactionary jerk and give people a hard time for their opinions and beliefs.

I've been a veg for seven years. My best friend has been one his whole life. We hate PETA for one simple fact: they are more concerned with spreading disinformation to people about health and having offensive, rude, shock-therapy campaigns to try to convince people to be vegan.

I respect animal rights activists but they're hypocrites. They sponsored a "no kill" shelter that killed the animals as soon as they got them. Ingrid Newkirk, their founder, isn't really pro-animal so much as she is anti-human.

Their actions do little to further animal rights, so much as they galvanize people against it. Because of them, they think of animal rights activists as loud, mean, rude people. Because of them, I can't tell someone I'm a vegetarian without them rolling their eyes.

Get involved with a group who isn't a bunch of sensationalist pricks.

Give them lots and lots of money... You can die for all they care a long as a chicken or a cow is "saved". But they do need your money otherwise, How can the PETA corn goddess/president and it's board live? They have no other jobs or sources of income and rely on donations to make their living.

My suggestion is a simple one - research.

Put 'pro PETA' and then 'con PETA' in a search engine like Google and see all the information that you come up with.

If after seeing all the negative and true facts about PETA you feel that you should support such - that is your choice to make - but not one that I would be comfortable with.

well they really want you to firebomb research centers but i guess you could adopt an animal from a shelter.
