Are Clams Meat?!
Answers: I am vegetarian and my mom and grandma r saying that clams don't have a face so they r ok for vegetarians to eat (my say on what to eat is if it has a face i won't eat it) are they correct?? I tryed googling it but nothing came up close to my Q
You need to google the word Animal Kingdom and look at all the phylums (divisions) that are under the Animal Kingdom. You will also notice that you should not eat spiders, worms, fish, snails (escargot, yuck!), and even butterflies. Vegetarians do not eat animals, so this should give you a good list of what is animals and what you can't eat. The phylum Mollusca is one of them, which is what clams are.
clams are seafood they arent meat.......
Clams are meat
well i no theyre shellfish and i guess if u consider fish meat then theyre meat... idk
if it was a living creature..it is meat
They are shellfish which in vegetarian terms is meat. The question is are you a strict vegetarian or do you eat fish? If you don't want to eat any thing that was a living creature, then stay away.
clams are not vegetarian.
Yeah. If they aren't meat, what else could they be?
Plants = vegetables, animals =meat
A clam is an animal, how simply is that.......
Meat refers to the flesh of a dead animal. Clams are animals and vegetarians do not eat dead animals of any type. Your mom and grandma are taking a silly cliche about not eating anything with a face WAY too seriously. Vegetarianism isn't about faces, it's about not killing animals for food.
duh thr meat!!!1
Clams are seafood- so on a vegetarian diet you would not eat them .
If you were to eat only seafood, and no other meat , then you would be Pescatarain, a slightly different diet.
fish is seafood too. As is anything that bears live or eggs as offspring. clams are meat. but not in the same class as beef, ect.
remove your label and eat what tastes good. the meat in a clam is only a filter for toxins and dirt. disgusting, but delicious.
Clams are living creatures, they're still animals, so yes, clams do count as meat.
Not to a flexitarian vegetarian, dear. Seafood is delightful. Ask 700 million Chinese vegetarians and 127 million Japanese vegetarians. They ought to know
Flexitarian Vegetarian: "Vegetarianism for Intelligent People (VIP)"
No, seafood......................... Yes , they are shellfish.
If it is an animal or moving creature and you want to be vegetarian then do not eat it.
Clams are meat.
Btw. Flexitarian has got to be the most stupid label ever. If you eat chicken or fish, you're not a vegetarian in any sense of the word, you're an OMNIVORE.
That's ridiculous. Clams are not classified in the monera, protista, fungi, or plantae kingdoms. They are in the animal kingdom. Vegetarians don't eat animal flesh.
Why are you letting your omnivorous relatives tell you what is "okay" for vegetarians to eat?
as illustrated by my fellow flexitarians, in a flexitarian world of logic and wisdom, clams are in fact NOT meat, but a rare derivative from seaweed and Nubian sand. they are related to the crabs that crawl all over my nether-regions, but not entirely, because those crabs are meaty and clams are not meat... the truth shall prevail...
Sometimes Nobody Understands Flexitarians Feasting Yummideliciously
(Snuffy)
snuffy pride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They're flesh, right?
A clam is an animal, and therefore it is not a vegetarian food.
Not to a flexitarian ... seafood is good and healthy for you. Nothing like a bucked of steamed clams and roasted corn on the beach with a fire and friends on a cool evening.
Clams are meat. I like clams, especially the bearded variety. When I was stationed in Mozambique as part of the honor guard for the king and queen I got to eat as much bearded clam as I could stand. Being my favorite food I could stand more than they could provide.
I'm a flexitarian and that goes for sexual preference as well as food and honesty, but you can trust Dr. Skummy when it says "clams are animal flesh" and therefore not vegetarian.
Yes
