I think your problem might be more psychological than physical.
Maybe you′ve been under stress, or something has been bothering you. Just relax. Take a deep breath. Think clearly.
If you eat right, you shouldn′t have any problem with proteins.
A vegetarian diet doesn′t lack of proteins at all. But anyway, if you are really concerned about it, try to eat soy, quinoa and amarant (these last two, are from South-America, and the 3 of them have every esential amino-acids your body needs to get thru proteins). Cereals, legumes, almonds, nuts, etc. (i′m sorry, my english is not well enough with vegetables so i can′t name more) have lots of proteins too.
Try to eat variety of foods during the day, and from day to day. Eat until you feel satisfied.
Try to have a good humour when you eat. Don′t eat just because "you have to".
If you feel hungry between meals, have fruits or some snack. That is not a problem.
Don′t know what else to say.
Stick to your beliefs. The path maybe hard at first, but it will surely show it′s worth.
you might not be eating enough. have you noticed bags under your eyes? thats a sign of not enough protein. go to a health food store and get protein powder you can add it to fruit smoothies and you cant even taste it. if youre still worried try talking to a doctor or nutritionist.
good luck!
Meat has lots of calories and fat. A tiny portion is very filling. Remember, you'll have to eat way more beans, tofu or other protein sources to get the same number of calories into your diet.
If you get hungry, take a small snack with some fat, protein and fibre to fill you up. A half peanut-butter&jelly or peanut-butter&banana sandwich on wholegrain is good, or wholegrain with cheese and tomato. I also get really full on sushi rolls, pears or apples dipped in peanut butter or vanilla/chocolate yogurt, or wholegrain cereal with soy or dairy milk.
If you avoid sugary, simple carbs, and snack often, you should reduce your hunger cravings.
Good luck!
Are you sure you're not preggers? With all the meat cravings you might be. If you care about animals, that's fine. You can only really be a Vegetarian if you really are committed to it. I never get meat cravings. I ate meat all my life until four years ago when I decided to try Vegetarian foods. I have NEVER looked back once. There are all sorts of faux meat out there. You'd never know the difference.
Your body is telling you what it needs to be healthy. Listen to it. Meat is good for you.
Simple carbs (fruits, crackers) give us qucik short term energy. More comlpex carbs give us energy that kicks in more slowly but lasts longer. Proteins give us slow release long acting energy. Fats give up the building blocks we need to maintain cellular health and to store energy for when we skip meals. When you eliminated the highly concentrated long acting protein source of meat, you created the need for some substitute. While many argue that a diet based on having a snack every 2 hours or so, this isn't workable for many of us. A protein smoothie will help you avoid hunger pangs until lunch. A protein bar will help keep hunger at bay until quitting time. But if able, I think it would be healthier to take shorter, more frequent breaks for lighter snacks like an apple with a bit of cheese.
You're not alone with this problem - try to find out exactly why you crave meat.
If it's just the feeling of being full, perhaps you're not eating enough or getting enough protein. Try eating more legumes and wholegrains, preferably not canned unless you're pressed for time. I'd also recommend eating more organic foods, as they have hundreds of times more minerals than conventional ones.
But, if it's the taste you're craving, then have you tried having some mock meat? There are many restaurants that serve soy chicken or gluten beef.
Are you eating a lot of refined carbs? That triggers an insulin spike and food cravings that follow.
You must regulate and consistent your meal to bring to NORM.
Do you remember how the FASTING faith for 30 days works?. There is no myth, but automating the body system according to the mind. You just may need 3 to 4 days (according to my experience) the body to adjust.
Why should you eat more unless you are skinny? Take more "solid" vegan food if you need. But again, moderation is the secret for any healthy diet!
Calories. It's a Simple answer really it takes allot more Veggies to fill your calorie needs. 1) Eat more often~ 3 meals & 3 snacks 2) Make your snacks high protein things like Hummus w/ whole grain crackers & raw veggies, Nuts(nut butters), Seeds, Avocado Dip with whole grain corn chips.
On craving Chicken it actually might be is preparation of the chicken you crave. BBQ Sauce, the marinade, the batter on it etc. If it is you can find a way to add that taste to your diet. I use my husband's homemade BBQ sauce on my Oven Roasted Potatoes, now I don't crave BBQ Ribs. Because it was really the sauce I wanted. I read that this is often the case in Dr. John McDougal's newsletter(free)http://www.drmcdougall.com/. It also has a great set of archives for some self education.

some pastas have a lot of protein. Also how is not eating meat helping those animals. I say if you really cared you could still eat meat but just free range chickens or non abused livestock. Also you could contribute to animal rights groups.
If your not part of the solution then your part of the problem...not eating meat isnt going to save those poor animals.
