I want a bean salsa/dip recipe without any meat for my vegetarian husband?!
Answers: o yay! I CAN SHARE MY SECRET NOW! here is a site that i highly recomend! it is great and all recipes are vegitarian~!http://www.fatfree.com/recipes/salsas/
Just like at a restaurant.
My own recipe. Use on good chips like El Milagro (sold in a paper bag) or El Ranchero.
ROCKWELL ST. SALSA
29 OZ. TOMATO SAUCE ( I USE HUNT'S)
? MEDIUM ONION
3 JALAPENOS
1-2 BANANA PEPPERS
1 FRESH CAYENNE PEPPER
1/2 MEDIUM RED BELL PEPPER (NO SEEDS)
2-3 CLOVES GARLIC
? T LEMON JUICE
? t SALT
HANDFUL OF CILANTRO
PUT ALL INGREDIENTS IN A FOOD PROCESSOR AND RUN UNTIL FULLY CHOPPED AND BLENDED. THIS SALSA FREEZES WELL SO IF A FULL BATCH IS TOO MUCH JUST FREEZE SOME. THERE'S NO PRESERVATIVES LIKE STORE BOUGHT JAR SALSA SO A WEEK TOPS IN THE FRIDGE.. IT TASTES A LOT BETTER THAN JARRED THOUGH!
T = Tablespoon
t = teaspoon
For bean dip, just open a can of vegetarian refries. Black bean refries are good but they look...well, a little disturbing...LOL
I love Frog Ranch jarred salsa. For bean dip, I'd just buy the canned vegetarian stuff. I believe the Frito Lay's canned bean dip is vegan.
None of them have meat in them. So pick any recipe.
Pretty much any dips are vegetarian. You could do a seven layer dip, maybe some fruit salsas, guacamole...the possibilities are endless!
