Is there a name for this?!
Answers: I'm going vegetarian, but not the regular NO meat vegetarian because I will still eat poultry and fish. Is there a proper term for this? Is anyone else a fish/poultry eater?
Eat what you want in this world. You dont need a name for yourself. And call yourself a vegetarian if you so desire. Anyone that has a problem with that will just have to deal with it, as it's their problem, not yours.
It's still omnivore. You can't call yourself vegetarian if you eat meat. You might just be a selective eater, or something like that.
If you are going vegetarian, than that would be a no meat diet. I believe that is what vegetarianism is.
Most the world is a fish/poultry eater, sorry you don't get a "special" name.
You have just given up red meat, being a vegetarian means giving up ALL meat, poultry, seafood...
Just say what you don't eat (beef, pork, etc). It's far less confusing than saying "I'm a vegetarian and oh, I eat fish, shrimp, chicken, turkey, duck, goose, pheasant, yada yada". Some people will think you're being ridiculous and/or a joker. Others will take you seriously and serve up chicken to a real vegetarian. Who wants that kind of situation? So, just tell people what you don't eat.
Pesco-vegetarians or pescetarians eat fish, but your only semi-vegi if you still eat poultry. Why try to tag a name on it. If you don't eat red meat, you don't eat red meat. Who cares what you call it.
If you just eat fish you are a "pescatarian". But for your type of "vegetarian" you would be a omnivore.
Hope this helps!
yea, a meat eater
Yes there is, it's actually called a pollo-terian, why they use spanish terms for prefixes, I don't know. If you only ate seafood, like myself, you would be considered at pesce-tarian, once again, no clue why the prefixes are spanish.
Omnivore. Vegetarians don't eat animal flesh.

Meg----your definitions are irrelevant. The people who invented the word get to define the word. Flexitarian is fine, but it's not a valid adjective for vegetarian. In your world, Burger King can redefine the Big Mac. Ladies and Gentlemen, the BigMac now uses catfish instead of beef, radishes instead of lettuce and waffles instead of buns!!----Source: Burger King
omnivore nothing more nothing less.
fish and poultry are still meat just not red
there's no name for that, just that you don't eat red meat. You're no type of vegetarian. I am the same thing (I eat chicken, turkey, and salmon). There's no name for it, and you are NOT vegetarian.
What? You're going to become a vegetarian who eats meat?
That's called a picky omnivore.
There is no such thing as a meat-eating vegetarian. Chicken/fish are living beings and therefore are killed for their flesh so therefore you are consuming meat/muscle tissue. Some choose to call themselves pescatarians if they eat fish but no other meat. Fish are still living beings so are considered "meat".
That's not vegetarian.
Britannica Online Encyclopedia has this information:
Vegetarianism: the theory or practice of living solely upon vegetables, fruits, grains, and nuts-with or without the addition of milk products and eggs-generally for ethical, ascetic, environmental, or nutritional reasons. All forms of flesh (meat, fowl, and seafood) are excluded from all vegetarian diets, but many vegetarians use milk and milk products; those in the West usually eat eggs also, but most vegetarians in India exclude them, as did those in the Mediterranean lands in Classical times.
Why does it matter to me? Because I can order the vegetarian meal at a conference or on an airplane and they don't try to serve me fish or chicken. I'd like to keep it that way.
I used to eat chicken and turkey for awhile and I just never said anything unless someone offered me something with cow or pig in it then I would say I don't eat red meat or pork. Like most people said, you don't need a label, I don't even use the word vegetarian for myself most of the time. I just say I don't eat meat. Good luck.
Yes, there is. The majority of people who live in vegetarian cultures ... like Japanese .... eat small amounts of fish/seafood and/or poultry. The Japanese have the healthiest diet and live the longest. Other vegetarian cultures are the same.
In 1992, in the states here, a new word was used to describe vegetarians who eat fish, poultry, seafood ... they are called flexitarian vegetarians. In 2003, that designation was voted the "most useful word" by the American Dialectic Society. It's in common usage today and growing as the flexitarian websites and other vegetarian publications will show. Even the domestic terrorists PETA acknowledge the flexitarian vegetarian movement. We live in changing times.
"Strict" vegetarians and vegans are few and far between. The real ones you find in other cultures and they acknowledge flexitarians. But the western wannabe veggies usually they are rigid, unyielding and more like angry religious fundamentalists. You can usually tell them by that rigid angry tone.
But, Blondie, if you Google "Flexitarian" or "Flexitarian Diets" you will get thousands of hits and some great websites that will offer advice and great recipes.
I've been a flexitarian vegetarian and my "white meat" consumption ... seafood, fish and poultry (on occasion) is between 10-30% of my diet. That's typical. The rest is plant based. If I am training for a triathalon or other event, I may kick that up to 40% for a short training period. I can say as a woman, strict vegetarian men have never been any competition.
You will find that flexitarian vegetarians focus on well-balanced, moderate, diets with appropriate exercise and, for me, meditation. It's a diet that can keep you emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually healthy.
It's a stress free way to live because you don't have the social problems when out with your group about what to eat, or spend a lifetime reading labels. You can also develop a defined and toned body if you want. You can have a life without spending a fortune and time on forgaing for food.
So, yes the proper term for you is a "flexitarian vegetarian". Feel free to write if I can be of further help. Take care, Blondie.
There is no such thing as a vegetarian that eats poultry or fish so there is no name for it.
You would be a person that doesn't eat red meat.
So you're not going to eat pigs and cows? Lucky them. lol
Vegetarians don't eat animals. The term you're looking for is omnivore or meat-eater. I'm not trying to be mean, but that was just a silly question, ya know?
That being said, you're doing a good thing for your health by giving up pork and red meat.
Everyone seems to be giving you a bit of attitude now don't they.
If you need to explain your new diet you would just say that you don't eat red meat a lot of people choose not to eat red meat as it is more difficult to digest and a completley meat free diet does not suit everyone.
There are some parts of India that the people are vegan plus they do not eat enything that comes from under the ground. None of the choices you make with food are wrong just so long as you are healthy!
Yes, it is call the intelligent diet, in my book. Or if you prefer, flexitarian vegetarian. That's what I am and I'm normal.
You could call yourself "semi-vegetarian".
if well balanced, a healthy diet
im a vegiterian
