Is becoming vegan hard?!

Question: I am vegetarian, and love cheese. I eat organic food, so that no animals are harmed in the making of the cheese or milk. I've always thought that going vegan would be hard, is it?
If you have any links about being vegan feel free to include them in your answer!

Thanks! Happy 2008!

Veganism is not hard. All you need is grains, beans, fruit, greens, nuts. There are plenty of vegan cookbooks out there like "Vegan with a vengeance" by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and "Alternative Vegan" by Dino Sarma.

I recommend joining up to a vegan community like http://veganfreaks.net/forum/. They have a podcast too at www.veganfreakradio.com and I think they did an episode about "breaking the cheese addiction".

Organic animal products are not humane at all. Organic just means "without chemicals" but can still be factory farmed.
All dairy cows regardless of how "organic" they are must be pregnant in order to give milk, they give milk for the same reasons humans give milk: for their babies. Their calves get taken away at birth and end up as veal.
Dairy is even more cruel than meat, the only difference is the animals live longer and suffer a worse life.

Veganism is about rejecting the property status of animals, saying no animal should be exploited and no animal should be a means to human ends.

PS. To someone else who commented here: what the hell is a "Flex Vegan?"

I believe because your body is undergoing a change to your new diet. I might work or it might not. You just have to take it one day at a time. Happy New Year !!!!!!!

Something being 'organic' bares no relation to cruel / cruelty free farming practices.
I don't think I would be able to go vegan - I am way to lazy, fussy and unadventurous!
Good on those who manage it!

No. It's one of the easiest things I've ever did.
