well ..
i went vegitarian for a week ,
it didnt work out so well..
at first, yes, it's really hard.
but once you get into the ruteen
of not eating meat, it will be fine.
theres such thing as proteen bar's.
gum,drinks(shakes), etc,
and i know that fish is also meat, but
i usually eat sushi , for lunches .
dont swet it, it's okay if you dont succeed
my friend said , if you go along ways without
eating meat, and along time passes,
as soon as you start eating meat again
you will throw up , im not sure if thats
true, but thats what happend to her.

well you can get protein from nuts and also its better to be vege for 3 months as you will feel so fresh

Its really really easy, I promise

Its much better to stop completely, as you will get all its benefits that way

you do not NEED anything from meat.

another common misconception is that vegetarians need to take supplements. As long as you have a bit of dairy in your diet , you will not need any supplements at all. Without dairy ( Vegan basically) it can be hard to get vitamin B12- so some Vegans do supplement that. BUT as a vegetarian , there are no problems at all.

Go for it :)

Decide what you can do without- there's red-meat vegetarians, ichthyo (fish only), dairy (only egg/milk, etc, but no solid meats) or vegan. Being a vegan is the most difficult, as you have to plan specifically to meet all of your amino acid needs. Most of these can be met with nuts and grains, but you have to be mindful of the fat content of these. If it is a chore, you won't want to stick with it and be miserable. Start with the cutbacks you can make, ease into it, and be ready to cook at home more. Good luck!

Let me begin with this: Meat is NOT the only source of protein!

Here's a list of things with plenty of protein in them (and some of these are complete protein sources - means they have all the amino acids, some are not complete):

Tempeh, tofu, seitan, TVP, beans, nuts, seeds, bean sprouts, whole grain pasta, whole grains (like quinoa), sprouted grain bread and whole grain bread, even plain old vegetables like broccoli have protein - a 25-calorie serving of broccoli has 2 grams of protein... not to mention eggs and dairy (though I am vegan and don't consume those, it is your choice though :) )

You should go to the library and take out some vegetarian and vegan cookbooks and familiarize yourself with ingredients and ways to cook meat-free.

It is nearly impossible to not get enough protein. Protein is the last thing you should worry about when switching to vegetarian.

You SHOULD look out for: iron, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, omega 3, 6 and 9's, etc. Find vegan and vegetarian food sources for those, or even supplements if you want.

As I said, take out some books about being a vegan and/or vegetarian to learn more about how to balance your diet and to get inspiration about what to cook and what to eat.

And it was really easy and natural for me to transition to vegetarian and then I went vegan... I went through a lot in my life (served in the Army, had a child, etc) and not once, in the dozens of physicals/exams did I EVER come out nutritionally deficient or anything like that. In fact I haven't been anemic since I was 13 (and when I was 13 I still ate meat, who'd have thunk it, right?)

well i admit i did eat fish for just a week before i went vegetarian before i found out, vegetarians don't eat fish! well you can go to http://www.vegsoc.org/newveg/index.html to find out exactly what a vegetarian is, and you will get used to it about a year, where it actually becomes more casual, may be faster or slower for you, people are different. you can go to vegcooking.com to get some great recipes, and list of shopping lists. be very careful about some tricky stuff like rennet, gelatin, etc.

If you're ignorant enough to think you "do need the protiens from the meat" then why are you going vegetarian?

well..i just started going vegetarian and its not even hard really.
you can get protein from other things too.
like peanuts and stuff.
you should stop completely eating meat because its not gonna make a difference if you just cut down on eating it.
i say go for it.
good luck (:

Yes stop totally the meat including poultry and fish. Switch to avocado(great source of protein) , also try the veggie products like veggie burgers, they taste good. Don't drink soy milk , it is not good for your health instead try organic hemp milk(great source of protein & omega6/3). Nuts are great source of protein as well. Eat a LOT of fruits and get a salad every day. Forget the beans they create a lot of gas and overall they will make you feel bad.

Def. start with vegetarian and not vegan. Do it for reasons that you feel good about!
Stop all at once, save the animals. However, wait a week and get your other protein sources in line, so you're healthy and don't get sick!
You can have tofu, veggie burgers, and many other things (inc. health drinks and nuts)... Beans are also great. BE SURE TO CONTINUE WITH PROTEIN. I'm a vegetarian and an animal lover.... but please, be healthy. I support your decision and go through 100%, but also take procautions. Check out your local grocery stores vegan/vegetarian section in the deli or produce area and in the frozen area. There are some GREAT alternatives out there! Amys is also a GREAT brand. www.amys.com!

Good Luck! And... you made a great choice!

That's great you're interested in going veg! Some people adjust right away and for other people it might take a few weeks to adjust. It helps to find fake meats that you like... then you can use them in your favorite meals and recipes. Here's a list of products: http://vegcooking.com/guide-favs.asp

It's up to you whether to stop eating meat completely, but as the others are saying, we don't need meat to be healthy. There are a variety of vegetarian foods that are rich in protein and iron -- see this site for a list: http://www.tryveg.com/cfi/toc/?v=08sourc...

Also, check out this site for lots of food ideas and transition tips: http://vegcooking.com/makingthetransitio...

Good luck!!

No, it's not hard at all. Once I stopped eating meat, I had no desire to do it again.

Visit this site www.peta.com and you will see exactly what goes into meat and how it's made.

And no, you DON'T need anything from meat. That's stupid, it's just a myth. Plant foods are much better for you and don't carry deseases.

And, meat is ROTTING. It's flesh.
How on earth would that be good for you?

DONT DO IT MY WOST DECISION OF MY LIFE
