Answers: i find it annoying actually.
they seem 'amazed'

Even MORE annoying, is when they go "omg, then what do you eat!" like dead flesh is the only thing that a person could eat.

They seem sooo SHOCKED that someone could do that.

I tell them "google it, you stupid skank"

JUST KIDDING-
I tell them "well the short answer is that there are numerous health benefits, and it is no one's right to eat another living breathing feeling thing. If you want a longer answer on why people are veg, use google."

They look at us like we're ALIENS, its ridiculous.

idk ...never think about this.

Because I don't eat meat.

PETA
People Eating Tasty Animals.

I say bring me some more bacon.

Because you don't like meat?

You either answer their question or ya don't!

Say: Idk, it's stupid isn't it.

then go eat meat

ummm well r u? that is amazing. why??

Because you don't want mad cow

im also a vegetarian and everytime i go anywhere and there is food there, EVERYONE keeps asking me why i became a vegetarian. it is soooo annoying.

I would just say that it because it is my choice...no need to elaborate...it is a personal choice...emphasis on PERSONAL.

just say that its your decision and u like it that way and u dont like meat

Tell them its just like drinking a randomn sperm without knowing where it came from

tell them why, weather it be because u dont like to kill animals or because u dont like the taste, just be honest

Personally, i answer their questions as honestly as i can if they are asking because they are truly interested. If they are being annoying - i just ignore them.

i say LONG STORY!

You should tell them that they should expect people like you to exist; it's the 21st century for Pete's sake. People are allowed to care more for animal rights than human rights.

im a vegetarian, but i have a medobolic disorder called pku, long story, if people ask tell them because you want to be, and change the subject, lol

say " im an idiot...thats why"

lol sorry...

Thank you! It's very annoying!! I say it's because I don't feel like putting a decomposing corpse, that was tortured to death, into my body. Yeah.....pretty much it.

you say because i refuse to eat anything that God took his time to make other than what he gave us plants and trees

Well you don't have to answer the question, first of all.
The truth is, people ask you because they want to see if they agree with your reasoning...maybe enough to be vegan themselves.

I would just mention it's a personal preference. If that doesn't work, tell them you have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and have conformed to a vegan diet or else you would still suffer from explosive diarrhea!

That will get em to shut up.

I can't answer that because I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but I've heard people do it for healthy reasons. Usually a lot of hippies and college students seem to do it, but I think they have a political reason behind it.

Well, most people are carnivores. So to them, when they see a vegan or vegetarian, they are amazed. Cavemen is what they remind me of. "OMG MEAT!! DINOSAUR!!! YUM!!!" Ya no. But I love meat, and I could never be a vegetarian or vegan. But I respect you, if you are one. I care about animals, but I am still growing, so I would be very weak if I didn't eat meat.

My roomie is a vegetarian and she gave up meat for health reasons, as well as the desire to lose weight. Others simply believe that eating meat is wrong and cruel. Really the answer to that question for you, is one only you can give.
Why -did- you make this choice? People ask things like that because they are curious by nature, and generally it isn't meant to be rude. If you are happy with your choice of diet, you shouldn't let what others ask/say bother you.

I'm against the way the industry treats animals; however, I am NOT against eating meat as a whole. As long as the animal is being hunted in their element (I still don't even think free-range farming is the correct way to go about things,) I believe the consumption of meat can be justified. I don't look down on a lion when I hear that it's eaten a gazelle. Come off it!

i would say "because i dont want to eat much fats from meat ".

I'm apparently not able to be a vegetarian (I tried and have been told by a vegan that I don't have the right body type), but the reason I tried it was that it's better for the environment to eat vegetables. Of course there are so many good reasons to be a vegetarian besides that.

Be light about it, if it annoys you. If you want a silly reason, say that it's because vegetarians smell better:

I figure you already know the anwser to this question or else you would not be asking it. Therefore I shall assume you are asking us what we would say if we, hypothetically, were vegetarians. I suppose I would say something to the effect of, "You know you would be surprised at just how much flavor and variety you can get with well cooked non-meat dishes. I find it much more enjoyable than just mixing this meat with that sauce, or whatever..." That's pretty long, but you get the idea. I don't care about the nutritional value (actually worse to eat strictly vegetables) or cute animals (take off the rose-tinted glasses, kid...).
