What to have with falafel?!

Question: Last time I had them I was trying them for the first time and I put them in pitas with some other stuff, but this time I don't have any pitas. (Last time I used a box mix and this time I'm making them from scratch.) What can you serve them with so that it's not like you're just eating the falafel plain?

THANKS SO MUCH!!!

you should eat it with lots of vegetables, try making a red cabbage salad with some lemon juice and olive oil or mayonaisse, put the falafels on top and then add some tahini, cucumbers, tomatoes, pickles, pickled cauliflower, pickled beets, garlic, maybe some spicy pepper relish, some regular cabbage salad with olive oil and lemon, there are a million variations, but the more veggies and pickled veggies you add, the more flavor and crunch you will add do the delicious smoky flavor of the falafels. If you want some creaminess to add to the spicy and sour flavors, try some tzatziki sauce or some hummus to even it out. Make sure you have napkins and enjoy your falafel!

Hummus

Plain falafal isnt that good. Go with a good tahini sauce and maybe some tabouli or jerusalem salad

--------------------------------------...
Tabouli

Serves 4-6

3/4 cup boiling water
1/2 cup cracked wheat or fine bulgur
1/2 cup minced parsley
1/4 cup minced mint leaves
1/2 cup finely chopped green onion
1 tomato, diced
1 cucumber, seeded and diced
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice, or to taste
1 tsp. sea salt, or to taste
Pepper to taste

Pour boiling water over the cracked wheat, cover, and let stand about 20 minutes until wheat is tender and water is absorbed. Add the chopped vegetables and toss to mix. Combine olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper,. Add to wheat mixture and mix well. Chill. Serve and enjoy.

--------------------------------------...

Basic Tahini Sauce
Makes enough for Jerusalem Salad, plus extra for drizzling over falafel

1/4 Cup Tahini (paste)
1/4 Cup Water
2 Tbs Fresh Lemon Juice
1 Tbs Olive Oil
1/4 tsp Salt

Mix water and tahini until smooth with a whisk. Whisk in remaining ingredients and set aside (or chill).

Jerusalem Salad
Makes enough for 4-6 falafels in pitas

1 Medium Cucumber, peeled and diced (about 1 1/2 cups total)
3 Firm Plum Tomatoes, seeded and diced (about 1 cup total)
1 Handful Parsley, roughly chopped
3 Tbs Tahini (sauce)
Fresh Black Pepper
Extra Lemon
Extra Salt

Toss cucumbers, tomatoes and parsley in a bowl. Add tahini and toss to coat - salad should not be soupy. Grind fresh pepper over the top. Season with an extra dash of salt or squeeze of lemon if desired.? Serve as a filling for falafel, or as a refreshing summer side salad.

A little greek yogurt. Scrummy.

I usually mix ketchup and Italian salad dressing, and then pour it over the falafel. I also eat it with chopped carrots and lettuce. Delicious.

Falafels are awesome in mid-eastern pitas with lettuce and tomato and tahini sauce.

And fattoush salad. *drool*
