Vaccinations?!
Answers: If someone doesn't eat meat for religous reasons or any other reason, would you still vaccinate your kids or self, knowing that vaccines are made with animal enzymes and tisue?Would this bother you and what would you do?PLEASE answer soley on veggitarian princables and not weather or not vaccines are beneficial or not.Thanks.
I think that this also goes along with there being cells in there from aborted fetal cells. I do not think that should be in there either. So I understand that if you do not eat animal products, that this could offend you to.

This is a link that has the ingredients of vaccines. It was updated a year ago, so somethings might be different. Look up the MRC-5 Cellular Protein.

Not something I want in there either, along with formaldehyde, aluminum, mercury, etc. So I would have to say that if I do not agree with the vaccine ingredients, I would not vaccinate.
I'm a veg and I've vaccinated my daughter and will continue to give her all the recommended vaccinations, I would prefer she didn't have rubella or some other illness. I put her health first before the aspect that there might be animal enzymes in the vaccine.
My mother didn't get me vaccinated and growing up, in the first 2 years of my life I had rubella, measles AND mumps. It was in a country in Europe that did not really mandate many vaccinations at the time, the country was under communist rule and that was the least of people's problems... I don't want my daughter to get sick, or to even have the chance of getting sick. It's not my mom's fault, good medical care wasn't available, but once we came to the US we had to get properly vaccinated for everything.
Now flu vaccines I do not do, I don't think they are effective and those I feel I can consciously avoid because I know they have animal enzymes and worse in them.
Hi i am vegan and so is my wife. our son was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder at birth and had an enormous amount of injections and he has had to vacinated to protect him. I am sorry to say it even though they are tested and use animal enzymes, i would of lost my boy if it was not for the vaccines and on that note i would use them instead of riskin my families health. Hope that helps
Regards
Nick
Vegetarian is only diet so they can vaccinate without guilt. Vegans on the other hand might not. I think it's an area where each individual vegan has to decide for themselves, but using any animal product would certainly be a transgression of their vegan ideals.
I wouldn't refuse a necessary vaccination no matter what it was made with.
I disagree that accepting medicines that are made with animal enzymes or that have been tested on animals is a 'transgression', even if you are a vegan.
Being a vegan is about doing all you can and the best you can to minimise your contribution to animal suffering and exploitation. It is not a suicide pact, it is not about valuing animal life above human life, and it certainly is not about risking your children's lives.
I'm vegan and I wouldn't hesitate. My mother was thought by her doctors to have had rubella during pregnancy; my sister was severely disabled throughout her life before dying too young. My mother's parents didn't have the option of having her vaccinated and possibly avoiding a tragedy like this - you have that option for your children and it would be irresponsible and - I never thought I'd say this word on this forum but - immoral not to take it.
