Drinking milk makes me feel sick, but cheese is okay?!
But somehow when I eat cheese I don't get sick, and I've even had yoghurt that didn't make me feel bad at all. I had assumed I was lactose intolerant, but this confuses me.
Has anyone else had similar experiences or know what is going on with this?
Answers: This is really strange and I don't understand it. When I drink milk, I feel really sick. Like nauseus and my stomach gets upset. It's not psychological because I used to LOVE milk. So I switched to soy milk, and thats no problem.

Yes, it is lactose intolerance. Why does it confuse you?
There is no lactose in most cheeses and definitely none at all in yogurt. The lactose is fermented to lactic acid in the production of yogurt and cheese. Some sliced cheeses, and cream cheese, however, contain lactose (just look at the nutrition info and check the amount of carbohydrates. Anything more than 0 grams is lactose).
Many people confuse lactose intolerance with a dairy allergy. They are not the same. You have lactose intolerance.
Some people have a misconception that cheese contains lactose. Most cheeses do not. It's really easy to check this on a case by case basis by looking at the nutrition label, since the only carbohydrate in dairy products is lactose.
I could just be that one glass/bottle of milk youu had?
Try drinking raw milk from a private dairy. Drinking milk that has been pasteurized and homogenized is very harmful over time. You body was not designed to be able to digest milk without the valuable enzymes that are destroyed by pasteurization and homogenization. Soy milk is even worse. You might as well drink watered-down rat poison.
the milk could have been bad.
I have the same thing. My doctor told me it was lactose intolerance due to not drinking liquid milk for a while.
I used to drink milk when I was little, but then stopped in high school, and when I started to drink milk again at age 25, my stomach just couldn't take it. I can still eat ice cream and cheese just fine.
yogurt and cheese are fermented or processed products. Sometimes people who can't consume milk and ice cream are able to process cheese and yogurt.
Also what kind of milk is the cheese that you are eating made from? It may be made from goat's or sheep's milk and you may be able to process that better than cow's milk.
maybe you just have an allergic reaction to milk. I'm sure it's not a big deal. Maybe you are partially lactose intolerant. Hope That Helps~Curly Que<3
