Does anyone know of good brands that supply vegans with meat and dairy substitutes?!

Question: if i am a vegan, are there any necessary substitutes i have to take, for example protein pills, shakes etc?

You might want to take a vitamin B12 capsule, or can get a vegetarian multivitamin (with many of the vitamins/nutrients everyone needs, not just vegans) at Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Trader Joe's, or any other such store. The vitamins come from vegetarian-friendly sources :)

However, you can get vitamin B12 from nutritional yeast (which makes food taste cheesy! It's awesome...) or from enriched soy milk or tempeh.

You don't really need to supplement protein with shakes, powders, or anything like that. There is protein in nearly everything you eat - in fact, tempeh, tofu and seitan are very high in protein, as much as some animal flesh . There is also protein in beans, nuts, seeds, bean sprouts, sprouted grain breads, whole grains and whole grain pastas, even in vegetables like broccoli.

Protein is the last thing you need to worry about, it is nearly impossible to not take in enough protein - I mean, if you have a glass of soy milk with breakfast and have some tofu with your dinner, you're already more than halfway there with your daily requirements as a woman (I'm assuming, anyway, by your avatar). Count in all the veggies, nuts, beans, pasta or bread you had all day and you're probably already done...!

No.
