For vegetarians out there! I have a question!?!

Question: So, its been six months since I don't eat red meat (pork and cow) but I remember that 4 months ago my friends bought Jack in the box tacos and told me it was soy.

I was so dumb to believe that because obviously now I have done some research to find it has meat on it!

Is it normal to feel bad and guilty for eating meat when I vowed not to?
I don't know what to think or do! So now i decided not to eat fast food at all!
what do you think?

oh and my friends didn't know it had beef, they really thought it was just soy.

It's totally normal to feel this way, although you really shouldn't, as you didn't intentionally eat meat; since you were unaware of doing it, I would not even consider this breaking your vow. However, you should research/ask someone whose knowledge is reliable if you aren't sure if a food contains meat, and stating away from fast food is definitely a healthy, animal-friendly decision.

Don't worry about it. Even super hardcore vegans wind up using an animal product every now and then, unintentionally. Rather than feeling bad about that one slip up that wasn't your fault, feel good about all of the pig and cow meat you haven't eaten in the last six months that you would have eaten before.

if you are in this for health reasons, getting rid of red meat is a great thing. If you are in it for ethical reasons, though, you might want to check out how chickens are treated . . .they have it worse than pretty much every other "food" animal.

First of all, I highly doubt your friends really didn't know there was beef in that taco.

But to answer your question, you shouldn't feel guilty if you were tricked into it. But not eating fast food is probably a good idea. You have no way of verifying that their food is really vegetarian-friendly. Plus it's bad for you anyway.

Make sure that whenever you eat out, you make sure to ask if all the ingredients are vegetarian-friendly.

I would feel bad too, if that happened to me. It was totally not your fault though, so you shouldn't feel bad.

It is impossible to never make a vegan mistake. Animal by-products are used in thousands of products including lipstick and other cosmetics , even soap and skin cleansers.
Get a good B12 supplement.

I don't feel bad about accidentally eating an animal product. We're surrounded by dead animals, and it seems there's bits and pieces of them in absolutely everything. Accidents are bound to happen.

I congratulate you for not eating fast food. It's garbage for us vegetarians and also for omnivores as well. You made a decision not to eat fast food. Yes it is normal to feed bad for breaking a vow. If you didn't feel bad .. even if it was a mistake ... you would be like a criminal who doesn't "feel" anything. You'd be like the guy who says he likes animals and then sells his hay to those who put cattle to a cruel death, and then tries to justify it.

Now you know to value skepticism.

Well, if you just cut pork and cow out of your diet, you're not vegetaraian...

Anyways, how could you belive them? lol But they are jerks though.

..I doubt you're vegetarian though.... you said you just cut out pork and cow. I'm guessing you still eat chickin and fish..

Poser much?

Don't beat yourself up over it, just put it down as a learning experience. Check the fast food company websites as they usually have ingredient listings, then you will know next time!
