Soy milk has a lot of side affects. It can harm you. I don't think you should drink soy milk at all.
Hope this helps!
I believe it is the same but you should always do things in moderation no matter what. I believe soy in large amounts can harm you just like anything else especially if it wasn't treated right but actually a lot of foods that contain soy are served in resteraunts and people usually don't have problems with those. If you aren't sure about how much you should have you should either switch to rice milk for a while or just lower the quantity of the soy milk.
Your better off drinking Rice Milk than Soy. Women need to be careful about how much soy milk they drink. Contrary to all the marketing you see about the benefits of soy, you should limit soy intake unless it is in a fermented form (e.g. Tempeh). A couple of issues with Soy:
Almost all soy is genetically modified
It has one of the highest percentages of contamination by pesticides of any of our foods.
Soy also contains goitrogens - substances that depress thyroid function
Soy is one of the top eight allergens that cause immediate hypersensitivity reactions
As evidence on the toxicity of soy isoflavones accumulates, warnings have begun to appear in the popular press. An article appearing in the Washington Post Health Section was entitled: "You have to be soy careful: tofu and similar foods may be beneficial, but some experts fear that too much could be unsafe."
There is no required amount that I have heard of. Most people that are drinking milk are drinking it for the calcium that they think that they are getting - which is not as much as a cup of broccoli.
Too much of anything is not good for anyone. But if your just using it on your cereal and things like that - or because you want to drink a glass - I would see no harm in such.
But if your drinking gallons of the stuff every day - I would suggest not to do such. Like I said - too much of any one thing is just not a smart approach to anything in life.
NONE ... Soy has some nasty side effects that present clear and present health hazards. You might want to Google soy and soy problems. Soy is heavily promoted by the soy industry on a global basis because billions and billions of dollars are traded each day in soy commodities on the world market. Many vegetarians are naive, and buy this manipulation by big business.
