Are you sure you aren't confusing palm (fruit) oil and palm kernel oil? Palm kernel oil is supposed to be more unhealthy, because it is higher in saturated fat.
As for palm oil (from the fruit), it is mainly palmitic acid and oleic acid. Palmitic acid is fairly neutral in terms of health effects and oleic acid is good for you. Olive oil is a much better source of oleic acid though.

........

oil is oil is oil. eat in moderation. the less you eat in animal products, the better. increase your vegetable, fruit, & whole grain intake, drink lotsa water, and exercise.

I know nothing about whether it is or is not good for you, but I do know that the production of palm oil is likely to cause the extinction of orangutans in the wild.

I would ask every person who cares at all about animals and the extinction of species to keep an eye on the list of ingredients of products you consume and if you notice palm oil listed Please do not buy that product.

Orangutans are amazing creatures and I would hate to see them become extinct. Unfortunately they need a large range to survive and the palm oil producers are gradually destroying their natural habitat.

I eat Palm Oil in almost every thing I eat, mainly with stuff like Egusi stew, pepper stew, peanut stew and all Ghanian food basically.

I heard that it increases but I have been eatng the stuff my whole life *I'm 13* and I don't have any health complications like that.

I am a former chef and Andromeda is right about the palm kernel and fruit oils, and one is refined differently than the other, the Ghanian fellow is right too, but with the amounts of certain foods, starches, root veg and fish there diets includes the concentrations of bad fats is reduced ( I love Egusea soup to, the spicier the better), there is palm oil in alot of things, margarines, Blue Bonnet has it.

I worked in Singapore and like the African countries the East Indian poulations around the world use it for frying and as a flavour enhancer for some dishes, it adds a bit of richness to some dishes, I like the Ghanain dish I used to have in Toronto, Canada at a place around the corner from me, theis lovely lady used to make a goat and okra stew and served it with the pounded yam FUFU as the starch (she used palm oil for the gravy), you broken off pieces and used it like a pita to sop up the gravy.

In moderation and using the refined palm oil like the refined coconut oil that has become popular again you can add some unique flavours to your foods and it is good for your system, like a cleanser.
