Vegetarian christians?!
1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
what does this scripture mean? "commanding to abstain from meats"

what does this scripture mean? "commanding to abstain from meats"
Well, it means that we should not command people to not eat meat. It does not mean that we have to eat a lot of meat. We can eat meat in the proper time and season (i.e., famine, sickness, winter) and still live a life of compassion for animals and be somewhat vegetarian while still being appreciative of the food that God had blessed us with when we are in need of it. Humans were given dominion over animals by God and that may mean that we also need to care for them and decide the proper times to kill them instead of just slaughtering them incessantly.

No matter what it means, I don't think that if there is a God that he is very happy about what humans are doing to His animals. If there is a God I would imagine he is very angry about it. I learned in church when I was growing up that God loves all creatures the same, and I believe that if he is real, that is the truth.
