What to be vegan???? help plz!!1?!

Question: Hello!
I am a vegetarian, and 13 years old. I am thinking about becoming a "vegan" but my mom still wants me to be happy and eat vegetarian (if i go out to a restuarant that doesn't have anything vegan).
I know what a vegan is. My mom has thought about becoming vegan, but says it would be to hard!
I have a couple of questions:
1.) how long have you been vegan? (if you are one)
2.) was it hard to become vegan?
3.) were you a vegetarian 1st?
4.) do you still go out to eat!?!?!?
5.) what do you buy??

So should I become vegan??

Please answer honestly..

Thanx!!!!!=]

Hi. I'm really happy to help because I ma 13 years old and I was a Vegetarian. The problem is that I used to be one, but I play many sports and fruits and vegetables were not enough to keep me really healthy or I would become way too thin.
1. I am not a Vegan but my triplet cousins who are FOUR are and their parents. To tell you the truth.. I can't tell that they are because they make it look so easy.. to answer number 4. they go to dinner with us and always get pasta with fruits and vegetables.. they live on a farm with many animals and the animals are used as pets.. you would never even guess that they are vegans so it does not seem too hard. They have all been vegans since they were born. They were raised that was which makes it easier but they are perfectly fine with it.
2. I'm sorry that I am not one, but my aunt and uncle's parents just became vegans and they said it is hard to adopt to at first but that is because you have to really focus on what you are eating to stay healthy and not compromise rules. I'm sure you can do it if you have been able to be a vegetarian. You could try and it isn't bad if you have to go back to Vegetarian because you can't do it or you aren't getting proper nutrition. I think it is good to try.
3. They were vegetarians first which is a good start by eliminating a little food at a time. That is a wise choice.
4. (already answered.. YES!)
5. Anything from wheat to fruits and vegetables... You can simply check labels that have ingredients and look for milk, eggs, meat, and other dairy to check. Most grocery stores can tell you if you can have it. If I were you I would find all of the food you cannot eat on a list and some foods you would like to buy that you can eat. Buy those foods and then go find other foods and use the list of foods you cannot eat to check ingredients. Tofu is a good protein solution when you start to thin out.
I hope this has been good help.. I wish you the best of luck. I hope you can do it. Don't stress yourself or get too skinny. Stay Healthy

xx

1)First i am not a vegan, but my several of my friends are and my chef at school is too.
2) From what i heard its no harder then a veggitarian, you just need to cut back even more then you do now. NO MILK would be the hardest for me.
3) Some of my friends were Chef wasn't
4) HELL YES they do. They come to the restaurant i work at.
5) Veggitables. Try a stir fry. Just fry with sunflower oil a bunch of your favorite veggitables. ALSO Grains and Fruits.

1. I've been vegan for about five years.
2. I went vegan gradually so it wasn't too hard. I started using more and more non-dairy products, like soy cheese, soy yogurt, non-dairy ice cream, etc.
3. Yes, was a vegetarian first.
4. I go out to eat about three or four times a week - love restaurants!
5. Mexican and Indian restaurants have lots of vegan options (or vegetarian options that can be made vegan by asking for no dairy). Even American restaurant chains like Johnny Rockets and Burger King have veggie burgers. I go to Bertucci's a lot and get pizza with no cheese and extra tomato sauce.

I think it's great you're considering going vegan. Maybe you could start out being vegan at home but not at restaurants... then once you're more comfortable with your new diet, you could work on also eating vegan at restaurants. It doesn't have to be an overnight switch. Good luck!

1.) probably 4 years at least
2.) not nearly as hard as I thought!
3.) yes, 10 years
4.) yes, I do internet searches for vegan-friendly restaurants - you'd be surprise which ones will accommodate!
5.) Today for lunch I had a meatball sub (Nate's brand meat balls & Rudy's Organic Bakery roll), dinner I had macaroni & cheese (Chreese brand)... I LOVE cheesey things so Follow Your Heart vegan cheese go on a lot of my food, I also LOVE chocolate, pasta, waffles, ravioli & stuffed pastas, pizza, cheese burgers & hot dogs - and I can get it all VEGAN!!! There are many options, don't be fooled. I don't think there is a single food I loved as a kid that I can't get now as a vegan!

1.i have been vegan for over 2 years
2.it was hard for like the first week
3.yes
4. i never go out to eat, but there are options at almost every resturaunt.
5. i buy a ton of amy's stuff, its all vegetarian and vegan, but i go of the i cant beleive its vegan lists on peta (it was a big help)
I would choose to be vegan, i became so much more healthy after i became one.
