Prego vegan in-law?!
Answers: is really safe and healthy to go vegan while pregnant?
I would not recommend it. Check with doc and take pre-natal vitamins maybe. (why would you want to?)
Yea
Consult with a doctor and dietitian, the help you get here is suspect at best.
Yes, I know plenty of vegan parents. It's fine as long as you eat a varied, well-planned diet. Read this: http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/veganpregna...
The ADA says a vegan diet is suitable for all stages of life including pregnancy, childhood, infancy, adulthood, lactation.
PS. SEE A DIETITIAN AND DOCTOR.
yes, so long as you are careful to eat a balanced diet and get all of the nutrients you need, According to the American Dietetic Association and Dieticians of Canada, "Well-planned vegan and other types of vegetarian diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence." Of course, any pregnant woman should discuss her diet with her ob/gyn, whether she's vegan, vegetarian, or an omni.
Yes, but must be very careful also, a dietition or nutritionist could help. I beleive veganisum is healthier, thats why i am one, but I would double check to make sure every thing is going to be ok.
Not a huge deal different to lacto-vegetarian pregnancies, covered yesterday.

Just do it!
yes
This sounds important
ask a professional , don't go by anything on YA
"veganarkismo" already said.
My wife was a vegan even before she gave birth to 2 kids. After the mum's breast feeding, both of them consumed "snow" soy based infant milk formula. Now, they are 4y/o and 8 y/o respectively.
I was doubtful while my wife's pregnancy, my wife went for thorough blood screening, indeed the doctor shocked to see that she was absolutely alright. (Indeed not all doctors are experts in vegetarianism or veganism matters).
You may do so!
definately, they eat healthier than non vegans!
Yes.. my sister-in law is vegan, and stayed vegan throughout her two trouble-free pregnancies..
Both births went well, and both children (ages 3 years and 4 months) are healthy as can be..beautiful..big for their age.. and never had milk, eggs, or meat in their lives
Balanced VEGAN diet is better than any other diet without doubt...Physically, emotionally and mentally.
If it is monitored by a health care professional, it may be. But it's such a critical time for mother and child that only professional monitoring can make that determination. YA is the LAST place you want to be asking that question.
Yep if done right it can be very healthy.
check out www.vegsource.com (she's vegan and had twins)
