To all vegetarians....?!

Question: Question- As a vegetarian, do you take vitamins/supplements that contain fish products. I've been a veg for 16 years and still tend to get a bit gassy. i went to go buy Beano and realized that is was packed with all different types of fish byproducts. And some multi-vitamins that I have taken in the past contain fish oil.

No - Twin Labs sells vegetarian vitamins.

I have nether looked into taking these productos so I didn't relise.

i do not take any supplements with fish products. For another great source of omega 3 try walnuts. Being gassy sometimes tends to be from not being acclimated to eating a lot of something that will do it (e.g. beans) and then having a big meal of that. Multi vitamins do not necessarily list sources so sometimes what is in them is from an animal source. Your local natural foods store should have animal friendly supplements.

They do make a vegetarian version of Bean-O that you can get online (but I don't know where, I know I saw it when I was browsing online one time). Health food stores carry vitamins that are only from vegetarian or vegan sources as well, and you can also get them shipped to your house if you order online.

Most vegetarians I know (including myself) would not take something with fish ingredients in it, but it's really a personal choice. You can make the decision for yourself, I can't really speak on behalf of every vegetarian ever regarding this aspect. By definition vegetarians don't consume animals, and that would still be part of an animal though...

as a vegetarian no fear those ingredients and chemical compounds are so refined dehydrate etc there is no association
phobias and food fears have no place except for the animal it self
You just confirmed you have indulged in the sin
Relax there are millions more animal associated products
Get over this one Gasoline dinosaurs rot..

I do not take any products with fish in them. I would recommend buying some digestive enzyme tablets, the ones I have are chewable and have little taste so they're easy to take, and they seem to do good for my IBS.

A few years ago, for something totally unrelated to diet, my doctor prescribed me a medicine which came in a capsule, obviously, made, mainly, from gelatin. I reminded him I was vege, and was there a vege alternative, and then it dawned on me how bloody lucky we are in the UK to have the NHS, and, if my doctor tells me I need X for my health, then that is what I am going to take. That is the only time I have knowingly taken anything non-vege, and it was an informed decision I made, for the benefit, and betterment of my health. As for supplements, I feel it is far better to alter your diet until to include the variety and balance required to iron out any health niggles, so I've never needed to check for things like that.

Im a vegetarian and I don't take any vitamins or supplements...you can still have a complete and balanced diet when your a vegetarian, there really is no need for them if you have a proper balanced diet...

I read the labels on all my vitamins and buy only those that say vegetarian on them.

No. I consider fish a meat because they are an animal being killed for food. I'd say not to take vitamins with any animal byproduct in them. It's really like the same thing as eating meat.

There are several brands of vegan vitamins out there. I'm very happy I found a one-a-day vitamin that's not a giant horse pill.

i take multivitamins sometimes but i dont actualy know if they contain fish. im going to try to find out.
