What things do I need to know about being a vegetarian?!


Question: Okay. So recently I have been thinking about becoming a vegetarian. I think I can do it. But Im not too sure what I can eat and can't use. I want to be a Lacto-ovo-vegetarian. My friend said I can't eat gelatin. Or I shouldn't use products with gelatin in them. What else shouldn't I eat and what should I eat?
Oh and are there any health problems that can come out of this? Im 14. Should i talk to my doctor 1st??

Plan your meals.

1) Breakfast: cereal, toast, bagel, fruit etcs.. - this covers your daily carbs, better to have carbs in the morning versus at night.

2) Mid morning: yogurt, apple, protein bar. this will give you energy

3) Lunch: veggie sandwich, grilled veggies, veggie soup with lots of beans - you'll get your proteins and with the veggies, get your "a,b,c,d,e" vitamins.

4) Dinner: big spinach salad, or a leafy green salad, with a main course veggie dish. the salad covers your iron and more protein, with great vitamins. - b12

The main course veggie dish, - you can basically have what you want as along as it not to heavey in crabs. like don't eat loads and loads of paste or bread. but a little is good!

For ideas for recipes go on-line and there are loads of healthy free veggie recipes!

I am a vegetarian and I am 13.
I didn't talk to my doctor about this...my mom is a vegetarian.

You shouldn't eat:
~meat
~ idk about gelatin...vegans can't eat that

You should eat:

tofu
meat substitutes
pasta
nuts
veggies
fruits

Hey I'm 15. You need to eat a LOT of protein, vitamin C and D, and a LOT of iron. I hope you do become a vegetarian.

I would suggest that you get some Wheat Germ. Especially if you don't like tofu, beans or nuts. It is a good source of protein. Vitamins as well.

And you thought my hair questions were stupid?
Ok, I see where you are coming from but remember:
No Corned Beef
No Turkey meet or roast beef or none of that stuff
Hamburgers
GRANDMA!!!!
Your mom
MY mom
And the temptation
No more of you mom's awesome sausages
(in southern voice)No more of grandmamas friiied chicken

I hope you like tofu... well I do and my dad makes it good so you can come over and eat it with me lol. OH! And Morning Star makes these awesome sausages with no meat, but they taste sooooooo good! And you are going to have to eat a lot of beans, eggs, and nuts to get in your protine. Really think about this!!! And I'm gonna start making A LOT of Jello to get you mad... muhahaha! bahahahaha! ahahaha!
