Why aren't you a vegetarian?!

Question: if you aren't a vegetarian... why aren't you? the animals deserve to know

Answers: if you aren't a vegetarian... why aren't you? the animals deserve to know

I'm anaemic that's why. When my blood count is fine I reduce my meat intake when it's not I have to eat red meat. Taking meds is not an option for me since I can't eat enough vitamin c to process iron.

I used to be vegetarian years ago but I can't anymore, if I find an alternative I'll definitely go back to it, I feel terrible eating meat since I'm Buddhist and absolutely love animals.

I wanted to know that too! I mean, why eat something that is just as alive and aware as you? I'm proud to say that I went veg at age 13, in a family of meat eaters.

I think that god put thme here for us to eat. I mean sharks eat fish.

lions eat gazzelle. it's the food chain plus

don't "tree's and plants" have feelings too?
I wonder if you think about the potato's screaming or the soy beans being burned alive to make " soy pudding"

lawal hope you can take my joke's

i just love pork.

WHy does god have the animal kindom - hunt and kill live animals and then eat their flesh while they are alive. Deal with it - it is part of nature - Why do you think people have to not eat meat? Why do you think it's cruel - We at least kill them quickly and they do not suffer - This is something you need to get over and deal with. It is in the nature of all things living - they eat or be eaten

Besides: does a wolf, bear, or lion thinks gessh - I should not attack, kill, and eat that human being - that would be cruel. Nope, they could careless if you never eaten meat and were for the animals and stopped the killing of wolves, bears, or lions. They'd still eat you.

I don't see anything in the Bible saying to be a vegetarian.
Moses ate meat, Jesus ate meat....

If an animal deserves to know, and wants to know, then I'll answer any that ask me.

Because I choose to live my life the way I want to. No one is perfect, we all do things everyday that can be harmful to the enviroment, harmful to others, harmful to ourselves. I'm sure there are things you do that I do not agree with, but I wouldn't ever ask you "Why do you do that?!? Don't you know it's wrong for these reasons....?" I think it's wonderful that you have decided to stay away from meat, but there's nothing wrong with people who have decided to continue eating it.

i tried it once and i stayed with it too for a month or two. i had a lot of good food also but i stopped because honestly even though i did eat fish and other protiens i felt really sick and even though i eat alot i'm relativly skinny so my doc told me to stop until i was older cause i was only 12 when i tried. ithink i might try again when im 15. however only did it for fun so i also want to say remeber that if we didnt have the intelegence we do we would also be eaten by a bigger animal. :) ok my work here is done

I'm not a vegetarian because I choose not to be. I like to eat meat and don't feel bad about it and I don't think people should try and put a guilt trip on me.There are so many causes that a person could dedicate their time to why bother trying to push you choice of food on someone.be proud of who you are I am

Well im not very religious so I can't say because god put them there for us.

But my main reason is it would be to hard on my family and others. I think its a burden going over to a friends house for dinner and them having to make a special dinner plate for me. I also believe in the circle of life. Kinda like spiders caught flies and other bugs. What would happen if we never killed any animals would our world be over filled with them? I think eating them is a balancing act.

But I respect your choice to be a vegetarian and think it is very cool that you can discipline your self that well. And we need vegetarians cause if everyone ate meat there wouldn't be enough for me. =P

Because meat is a very high source of protein. Protein is one thing our human bodies love. In fact, the "caveman's brain size grew for one reason alone - he ate meat." If not man may not have become the superior and dominating force in our planet's history.
i further feel I am eattng almost the same recipe over and over in the vegatarian world, few changes from one to the next.

I love variety, and change...i need flavor too and do not believe I should ever restrict myself to eat from one source only.

Isn't anything we eat a form of life? Are those lives of less value? If awareness is the measure of what should or should not be eaten then some humans could even eat each other. I don't mean this in a rude way, but nature set things up the way they are. I don't think chicken grow so fast because they were meant to take over the world. I don't think animals should be made to suffer, and I do feel bad that I eat meat and that costs animal lives, but anything that will nurish us and sustain our lives has to have life. But if you can show me different please email me and teach me different.

Until then, the answer to your question is because we the human race are the chosen species on earth and the animals were placed here to sustain us. But I do beleive that animals are not smart enough to know they are food supply. I don't think they live in panic. They live full lives and suddenly they are eaten. Cows for example, they watch grass grow and they are cool with it. Their level of awareness is so low that they are ok just grazing. I don't think it's fair to equate that animals are the same as us. As cruel as this may sound, it's just the way it is.

Meat has and will be consumed forever sorry. To the animals sorry we cant have people die of starvation. In poor 3rd world countries when theirs a drought you animals are all the people have to survive. To vegetarians stop putting shame on us making us look so bad. I bet you if we look at your family tree almost all of your past ancestor were big meat eaters.

It amazes me that so many people related to God to answer this. It's not in the Bible. God put them here for us. Truth is humans are omnivores. We can stop eating meat by choice or force, but we're built and genetically structured to be omnivores. We have to be to naturally get all the nutrients and stuff we need. This day and age we can get those things from supplements and pills, but naturally we'd get a lot of the nutrients we need from meat.

i, however, think meat is disgusting.

also, to the person who made the caveman's brain size comment... brain size is not necessarily relative to intelligence or civility. in fact, the larger the brain, the less civil the human

if we didn't eat meat, there would be 10 times as much animals on the Earth and anyways, there are plenty of cows and chickens and fish out there. it is not like we are eating endangered species!

The animals are yummy, that's why.

Vegetarian people seem kind of meek. All the hard core dudes I know don't limit their diet. I don't limit myself. Besides, I like good food. I'll eat anything, as long as it doesn't have hair in it.

Tell them it's because I eat them and that's not vegetarian.

Humans are animals.
Animals are nature.
Animals eat animals.
Humans eating animals is nature.

Plain logic.

Actually by not eating meat you are missing an amino acid that you need and you can't get by ....gulp ... eating bean curd-......-OH GOD ---I AM ABOUT TO PUKE !!

Because I dont want to. And I don't need you permission or approval. And you don't need to know, I am just humoring a moron. And who the heck are you to decide for the rest of the wrld? Grow up Goldilocks.

Why are you not a meat eater?

Its quite simple really, I like the taste and texture of meat, and as to the animals needing to know, I am not Dr Doolittle so I am unable to communicate with them. Like most rabid vegetarians you seem completely unaware that we live in a biological system, that trees eat meat, or absorb the nutrients that rotting corpses return to the soil, that bone meal is a widely used vegetable fertiliser and your carrots are in fact carnivores. It is a biological system and it doesn't give a damn about your prejudices it just uses the resources given to it to produce more nutrient resources. Most of your veggies happily feed on varieties of fecal matter, **** to most others. It is natures way of recycling everything that is natural. Meat proteins offer us some of the most nutritious easily digested food groups available. Have you or any of your vegetarian friends ever looked at the amount of resources (in total) used to make a soya protein burger..... it is horrific in terms of the total enviromental damage caused, and a soya bean starts out life as being poisonous to humans before a complete factory process renders it fit for human consumption. Please I beg all of you, look at the total cost of what you eat before making such fatuous comments.

Jenny, don't bother people that eat meat please. You make veg people look very bad and may hurt the animals more by bothering others. It is a choice.

I'm not a vegeterian because I just don't want to be. I'll live my life eating an omnivore diet and you can live yours eating a vegeterian diet. I like a lot of vegeterian food but I wouldn'r become one because I love chicken, fish, turkey, etc. I think animals should have more humane treatments, but I can't really do anything about it. I also don't think it's wrong to eat meat or not eat meat, There are days that I don't eat meat. I have nothign against vegeterians but I do hate the ones who like to force there beliefs on others. It's just really annoying!
