Are Vegetarians allowed to wear Leather Shoes....?!

Question: It depends on why they are vegetarian and how much of a veggie they are. Some people are vegetarian just because they don't like the taste of meat, for example. I guess someone who is against the slaughter of animals but hasn't yet got as far as veganism might choose not to wear animal skin.

Vegans don't wear any leather.

Vegans don't wear any leather.

yeah... not vegans

no they dont want anything to do with wearing or eating dead murdered animals

Well people are allowed to do whatever they want as long as it isn't against the law. Most vegetarians don't buy leather, but may wear some they owned before they became veg. And there isn't anything wrong with that.

Yes, but strict Vedic followers in India dont wear leather. The concept is that you can use the parts of a dead animal which has died of natural causes, but not slaughtered.

Yes. You're thinking of vegans who do not eat or wear any animal products at all. How ever there are know 'rules' as to being vegetarian, it's a personal choice as to what you choose to wear, just don't consider your self one if you eat any red meat, poultry or seafood.

This has to be one of the most interesting questions i have ever seen in years. I have never even thought of that till now.
I will point this out to a few people now.. My answer is NO.

well i'm vege and wear leather and ugg boots

Yelp

It's only what they put in the trap door located just below the nose

Depends on if its for moral reasons that your a vegetarian if so then you can't as it goes against what you stand for really

if your doing it for other reasons then its probly a bit different but still wouldn't consider doing it if you don't want people going your not vegetarian if you wear leather shoes

"allowed", yes, the definition of vegetarian is about diet - veggies don't EAT meat, fish, poultry nor slaughter by-products

If you are a veggie for animal welfare reasons, then its not morally right to use leather , No

None-food products account for 20% of the profit made from a slaughtered cow. Take the leather out of the equation, meat prices go up, less people buy it. Therefore is you use leather you are contributing to ( and responsible for ) the slaughter of the animal.

animal free shoes are widely available:

well yea dude, no one eats leather shoes.......unless their really starving lol, but i suppose an animal activast would not like to wear leather, "there so ......g*ay" (no offence) lol

Anyone's 'allowed' to do whatever they please but I'd have thought generally if someone is against killing animals that also means they would not wear leather either cos last time I checked an animal had to be dead before it could be turned into leather.!!!
Makes sense to me

"....allowed to wear leather shoes...?"???? I know of no law that prohibits the wearing of leather shoes... Is there a legal vegtarian authority that polices any vegetarian who does not conform with the definition??

Absolutely NOT!!!!!!

As long as they don't have an eating shoes fetish, yes.

Technically yes. Morally no.
But do what you can manage otherwise you'll give up completely and that's worse.

What you eat has nothing to do with what you wear!

Well....a lot of vegetarians wear leather shoes....they only don't eat meat, eggs etc.... however in some vegetarian cultures....wearing leather shoes or cloths is a sin (Like Jainism and Buddhism)....

No. They don't eat the animal whose skin will make the leather so they don't wear shoes made of it. They will have no part of anything to do with the meat industry

I'm a vegetarian & you can wear leather shoes, jus dont eat them

well, it depends on what you're a vegetarian for. do you just not like the taste of meat? then wearing leather shoes and using animal skins is fine. if you're a vegetarian because you're against the suffering of animals, then you'd be a bit of a hypocrite to wear shoes made of leather.
it's all about your ethics.

The word "Vegetarian" annoys me....

The ones that care about the animals especially and still use animal products and still eats them (esecially dairy) - Now they ARE hypocrites!
Just an embarrassment and bad ***-hole example to the real Vegans in the world that truly care! P*sses me off! Please don't wear that sh*t and call yourself Veggie 'anything'!! *rolls eyes*

Do what you want, but i would say no.
