How fast can weight be lost on a raw vegan diet?!

Question: I am currently a vegetarian (ovo-lacto), who just switched to a raw vegan diet (all vegetables and fruit, some tofu, very little grains, some beans). I would like to lose 20 lbs in the next 2 months or so. (Actually, I am looking to reduce my measurements more than the weight- right now my hips are 41" and I'd like them to be 35").

Does anyone have any stories about losing weight on a raw vegan diet? How quickly did you lose weight? I'm very self disciplined, so I know I won't cheat..

RAW Is considered 85% Raw ~ 15% cooked ratio. I do a low fat Raw vegan diet

You are going to blow it away, you will lose weight very quickly on a "RAW" diet plan.
Are you Juicing or doing Green Smoothies? Both will help allot. 1) give you energy 2) stop cravings before they develope.

My current fav juice is:
GARDEN SURPRISE JUICE
This past month, Rhonda demonstrated the following juice recipe, and it was DELICIOUS! (Should serve 2)
4 carrots (medium size)
1 cup fresh spinach
1 red bell pepper (quartered and seeded)
2 celery ribs (cut in 2” pieces)
Wash and prepare all vegetables, process through juicer, strain, ENJOY!
*ORGANIC INGREDIENTS ARE ALWAYS RECOMMENDED.

Slainté (to your health)

I have done "The Skinny Bi*ch" diet in the past and the lbs melted off... It sounds like you are dedicated, and the SB diet was great and needed dedication (prob not as much as the raw vegan though). I am back to ovolacto now for me it's a little easier cooking meals for my Non-veg hubby and kids. I have to say I felt really good as the lbs were coming off. I didn't feel slighted as I used to on reg diets. Good luck!

Here is a blog about a woman who went raw to lose weight. Perhaps you can find some inspiration and answers that stem from experience there. http://mattyeleesrawprogression.blogspot...
Just in case you didn't know, tofu, grains and beans are not raw.
I also remember reading a blog about a woman that lost about 200 pounds drinking only green smoothies from the book "Green for Life" by Victoria Boutenko. Whether you intend to do the smoothies or not, it's a great book full of information and benefits about the raw lifestyle.

Hi, I'm sorry for sounding rude but I just wanted to add something to help you if I may. An increase in activity is the surest way to burn calories and by that, lose weight. Don't get me wrong, I think that what you are doing will help, but being self disciplined, adding exercise to what you are doing is sure to help with your goal. good luck.

just look through a cakorie chart on line like this 1:
http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/

u need to burn 3,500 calories to lose a pound

I went raw (except for my morning coffee and nighttime wine) for 30 days. The first few days I lost 1 lb a day. Around the 3rd day I began to gain weight! AAAaaaaaaaaa! I realize now looking back I was eating too many raw nuts and too much avocado. I found them incredibly irresistible.
So if you go raw just remember take it easy with the nuts!
If you just went 50% raw you would see a difference in your weight and your overall health. So no need to go 100% all at once.

sst answer is 100% right, i went vegan a few weeks ago and my weight is the same!!!!, and i do beleive its cos im not exercising! and also mamammons answer is a good tip, easy on the nuts, i went mad on seeds, like pepitas and sunflower, theyr yumm but fattening! xxxxx

eat vegan , but work out, youll drop the weight faster! xxxxxxxxxxx
