HELP!!!!!! Hate the dairy industry practices but...?!
Answers: I'm a guy, and i need my protien, dropping meat was no problem, but I can't have soy as my main protien source cause the estrogens would change my personality(cause i would be taking a whole lot like 150g of soy) and kill sex drive, shrink my nuts etc, so because of this i still rely on whey and casein(milk protiens), Are they're any other non-animal protiens, prefferable sold in bulk, than soy... and trust me I've done my homework and im not putting soy in my diet period.
You are wise to avoid soy for the reasons you mentioned, and others as well. Most soy in the US and UK has been genetically modified and is no longer a natural food. Its been spliced with the DNA of many species of other grains, rodents, scorpions, pesticides, etc., in order to make the crops heartier and more resistant to pests (google "roundup ready soy" for more info. You can easily supplement your protein requirements with other foods, such as pulses, legumes, beans, peas, veggies, and whole grains. Quinoa, an ancient grain, buckwheat and millet are all wonderful sources of complete proteins, containing all 13 essential amino acids that the body needs. Other foods can be combined to make complete proteins. Quinoa, buckwheat and millet flour can be baked into tasty quickbreads, muffins, cookies, etc., or can be used like rice. Oat groats are another great source of protein. You can buy all of these things in bulk, whole grains. I buy them in bulk, then grind portions of it into flour. I am allergic to wheat and soy, so I rely heavily on these grains. My daughter and I have been vegetarians for years. We take no supplements or pills, and our vitamin/mineral/iron/protein counts are perfect (we both get them checked every year) Doing your homework on the proper way to maintain a vegetarian lifestyle is worth the effort. Please don't follow the advice of the answerers that no little to nothing about the topic. As a side note, you could look into raw, organic milk as a source of dairy. I have my own cow, but most towns have a private food co op where you can get raw milk. I make yogurt, kefir, butter and cheese from my fresh raw milk. Good luck! Feel free to email me if you need more info.
Peanutbutter, Nuts, Beans. Those are the very best ones.
If you're already making excuses and your ignorance is that blatant, it's not going to work for you.
Nuts, lentils, dried beans and peas, peanut butter, tahini.
I suppose you can try seitan, which is wheat gluten. You can make it at home out of wheat flour and it's very high protein.
There's more protein in a cup of whole grain pasta than an egg, for instance. There's protein in most veggies...
You can also dose up on beans, they are low fat, high fiber and full of protein.
You can have SOME of your daily intake be soy, fermented soy products are better for you than non-fermented. Try tempeh, which packs a whopping 20+ grams of protein per 4 ounces - you don't have to eat a lot of soy to get your protein then.
Best of luck. If anything, put your own health first and go back to lacto-veg or lacto-ovo-veg if it isn't working out for you.
Can you provide a link to one of those articles that says soy kills your sex drive and shrinks your privates?
I've never seen a credible source mention either of those.
As others have said, beans, legumes, seitan, nuts and nut butters. There are also protein powders other than soy or whey. Here are two:

Edit: I didn't see any information about soy decreasing sex drive or having any effect on genital size, in the article you just posted.
You might want to look into pea protein isolate. It is made from field peas. I know it is produced by a company in Winnipeg, but I don't know if it is available in the U.S.
Oh... so that's why my nuts are shriveling up and I'm growing boobs! Seriously... This is one of the funniest yet most ignorant things I've come across around here.
Yes, soy does have PHYTO-estrogens (plant estrogens) but they are a lot weaker than any mammalian estrogens (found in meat and dairy) even without all the added hormones fed to cattle.
Anyone afraid of estrogens should be much more afraid of dairy than soy...
I mean I suspect that the hormones or a lactating cow, even the natural ones not counting the additional hormones pumped into her to keep her lactating longer are going to affect a human a lot more than a plant estrogen.
The phytoestrogens in soy are structurally similar to human estrogen, but very weak compared to the estrogens that the human body produces. They bind with estrogen receptors in the human body. Phytoestrogens are believed to protect against breast and prostate cancers, two hormone-dependent cancers. Isoflavones, found in soy, are only one type of phyto (or plant) hormone or sterol. There are many others available in a number of plant foods.
Plant estrogens are also found in MANY plants other than soy.
"Phytoestrogens are naturally occurring phenolic plant compounds, present in foods such as beans, cabbage, soyabean, grains and hops, and are part of a wider class of polyphenols found in all plants. They are structurally similar to the mammalian oestrogen, oestradiol, and have oestrogenic properties. However, their oestrogenic activity is generally much less than that of human oestrogens (oestrogenic activity ranges from 1/500 to 1/1000 of the activity of oestradiol). Hence phytoestrogens can act as anti-oestrogenic agents by blocking the oestrogen receptors and exerting a much weaker oestrogenic effect compared with the hormone. As a consequence it has been suggested that they might partly suppress or inhibit normal oestrogenic activity in oestrogen-responsive tissues such as breast tissue and may reduce the risk of breast cancer. They may, in addition to their endocrine effects, have action on cellular targets which are independent of oestrogen, thereby complicating the prediction of their properties in humans."
Also, keep in mind that soy has been consumed in East Asian countries for centuries and I'm sure it doesn't cause shrinked testicles and loss of labido there.
PS. No offense but those men's magazines are so full of sh*t and are not reliable sources of nutritional information. Every other issue is about getting "rock hard abs", eating more animal protein, getting laid, and avoiding the prostate probe from your doctor. ;)
PPS. Whey isn't even vegetarian, it's a by-product of cheese production, a process which requires rennet. (read the article I've provided in the sources about whey)
PPS. What a coincidence, the latest episode of VeganFreak radio talks about soy. http://veganfreakradio.com/index.php?id=...
Beans and rice create a complete protein. as do broccoli and potatoes. With a whole world of beans out there from pintos, garbanzos, kidneys & cranberry beans and white beans just to name a few. Plus all kinds of rice like sushi, brown rice, red rice even black rice so there is a whole world of rice and rice dishes to explore. Then there are legumes like lentils. Ther are also rice based pastas avaliable. You might consider just supporting sustanible organic dairys if you'd like to keep cheese in your diet. There are plently alternatives to the soy bean. You are correct people being treated for cancer are encouraged not to eat soy products because they contain estrogen and one of the anti tumor strategies is to limit estrogen.
There are plenty of proteins. Beans, nuts, and certain vegetables.
A little bit of soy is fine for guys as well, just don't take too much.
The large dairy industry is not the only source of milk. Just as with eggs, you can find companies that don't treat their cows like just milk machines. Try health food stores and farmers markets. Also consider goats milk.....
