Does anyone else have this issue?!
It just doesn't make any sense. Like I hate cheese but I want it out of my site so bad I'll eat it...this is messed up and I know it.
Any comments? advice? questions?
This is the only problem I'm having with being vegan. If I didn't live with my family it'd be so much better cause the non-vegan stuff wouldn't be in my house. But I have a year and a half longer with them.
Answers: I mean, I'm disgusted with everything that isn't vegan, and am all for being vegan, but I'm new to it and having some difficulties. Like I'm eating food that isn't vegan just to get rid of it. Is this weird? How can I stop? Cause I'm a wreck. I do this about once a week then I end up depressed and crying all night and wanting to throw up.

Maybe it's best that you focus on lacto-ovo vegetarianism or some other less restricting form of vegetarianism at least until you can make your own shopping decisions. It looks like your inner demons with your eating disorder tempt you too much to overindulge on "forbidden foods" (and people with eating disorders make up enough forbidden foods without the vegan aspect to go with it, you know?)
I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but it really sounds like you're struggling. I wish there was an easier way, but sometimes there isn't enough willpower, and you need to put your own health (emotional and physical) first.
Maybe you should focus on normalizing your eating habits, cutting out the binging, without punishing yourself or giving yourself "forbidden foods". Only once you're back on track and can conduct yourself properly around binge-foods and forbidden-foods should you start to transition to a more strict diet (like vegan for instance). It'll be much easier on your mentally and physically.
this is not a healty relationship with food, examine your motivations to become vegan, is it really what you want, or is it a way to hide a deeper issue like an eating disorder?
look carefuly at why you made this choice and seek help from a professional
the depression and potential bulimia is a little extreme... just throw out food to get rid of it, or hide it in a compartment.
stick to a strict vegan diet, and don't even give any mind to non-vegan food.
you cannot change the world around you to become vegan... you have to change...
good luck... hope this helps!!
Don't Torture yourself...If your body is craving protien or NON Vegan Food's then have them in moderation...think of it like any "Vice" personally I think, "Veganism"...is more of like a religion or something...what ever happend to good old vegetarians? Don't they eat dairy products (milk based)?
that's a bad pattern to get into to because you're not reaching your goals... either get rid of all of that junk, or give up on being a vegan.
I completely agree with the first answer. Good solid advice.
Since you are a kid and living at home, maybe you should just eat the way your parents want you to eat...in moderation and healthy until you leave.
Your issues go way deeper than you realize. For your own sake please seek professional help.
I really hope you're a troll because that's very special. Ever hear of donating food? Giving it to someone you know who DOES eat it? Tossing it? Anything? Considering you LIVE in an omnivorous household, good luck getting all the nonvegan food out of your sight.
Hey it is okay. Do not beat yourself up over it. But also do not binge on things. You can't change the content of your parents refrigerators. The best thing you can do as a vegan is to be really cool and happy about it. The more comfortable and joyful you are about your beliefs the more people will want to know and understand them. My parents are avid hunters and fisherpeople. It drives me nuts! This year for Thanksgiving I offered to cook and clean the whole meal as long as it could be vegan. (Granted I have been on my own for a while...) Now I have my bacon-n-white bread mama calling and asking me for recipes.
I know that animal cruelty sucks but the best way for us vegans to influence people is to be patient and kind and loving. When other people see how much you love your food and how healthy you are then perhaps they will begin to question their own beliefs.
