Not wanting to eat meat?!
Answers: Can anyone offer some insight for me? I eating hamburger strogonoff for lunch today, and towards the end of eating, right in the middle of a bite, I had a 'gross out' moment. There I was with this big piece of ground beef in my mouth, and all I could think of was 'this used to be a cow...I'm eating MEAT from something that used to be alive..." What gives? I have never considered a vegetarian diet before, and don't really even like many vegetables. I consider myself a strictly meat and potatoes type girl, but I had to put down my food and stop eating. Now when I think about the food in my refrigerator, I get a horrible mental picture of blood and death and gloom when I think of meat, and a pretty happy picture of fresh fruits, veggies, and grains. Does anyone have any advice to share?
Just do not think about it. Try to eat smaller bites next time. I use to be the same way. God intended for us to eat meat as well as produce. He gave Adam (man) dominion over everything. I eat beef sparingly, but more than when I was young. My parents said we were too poor for beef very often. We had chicken and fish alot. I married a butchers' son....go figure.
See where it takes you
i know what you mean. one time i was eating ribs & was totally like ew. like seriously ribs were my fav. i dont even eat them anymore!
i still eat meat though
i dont think you should stop eating meat , find some meat that doesnt gross you out.... like turkey bites? i dont know.
meat has alot of nutrients, its good for you!
i think if you are going to be a veg. its goonna be hard to find a substitute for all the lost nutrients you would obtain from meat, like pill vitamin supplements or something.
My advice is don't think about the food while you're eating it if it bothers you. If that doesn't work, stop eating stuff that bothers you. It's pretty much cut and dried.
UNDERSTAND WHAT MAKES RESOLVI BE 10 YEARS BY VEGETARIAN BY RESPECT TO ANIMALS I HAD MANY HEALTH PROBLEMS BECAUSE I DID NOT CHANGE NEVER THE ANIMAL PROTEIN, IF ANY DECISION I ADVISE YOU USE GRAINS
GOOD LOCK
if you are grossed out, try this, - for three months go without meat. but do it properly. Like do not skip meals and eat crap. www.goveg.com has good tips and planning, you can get more info online.
Okay after the three months see what you think! you need a while for your body to get used to a new way of living. - but the key is to eat good veggie meals, with protein and iron, and alots of good stuff.
Your mind and body may be telling you something! - good luck!
I guess we live in a society where people are so far removed from what they eat that they aren't forced to think about where it came from. Then suddenly it can hit you like that. I think a lot of people have that moment. I went vegetarian, but my daughter seemed to get over it in a day or so and go back to happily eating meat. (Mind you, she's only 5.)
You don't have to suddenly become a big salad eater if you decide to be a vegetarian. If you do stop eating meat, the replacements aren't so much vegetables (although it's good and healthy for anyone to eat vegetables, and you might want some leafy greens for iron) as combinations of legumes, grains, milk products and eggs (unless you're vegan), and nuts. Plus there are a lot of fake meat products like veggie dogs that didn't come from an animal, but resemble animal products enough to be familiar, so you wouldn't have to plunge headfirst into a world of couscous, seaweed, tempeh, and silken tofu. Also, there are vegetarian cookbooks for people with kids, who are notoriously picky eaters and suspicious of the unusual, which might help you out.

don't listen to her
God did not say that so how do you know if God intended for us to kill animals(baby animals, dogs, pigs, monkeys, cats, chickens...they are all animals, even we are) and eat meat?
listen to your heart/mind and be corageous to follow it :)
I am 13 and a vegetarian, I have been a vegetarian for 1 or 1 1/2 years. If you feel that way about meat...I would go vegetarian, cuz you are right...that USED to be an animal.
I hope I helped!!!!!!=]
I transferred to vegetarian/with some vegan attributes mainly for health reasons, but I started thinking of steak as a smelly, flies-flying-around-it cow. Did you know that a pack of chicken you buy at the grocery store has a small amount of chicken poopy in it? And milk has a cup of a veal in it! Now is that a little disgusting or what?! The only type of meat I'll eat now is fish, because I can't completely rule out salmon. If you want, try switching to pastas and fruits, you can try putting red bell pepper in the pasta sauce so that at least it has some vegetables. Also, you'll have more energy if you don't eat meat.
Sorry. I'm not exactly sure if I answered your question.
Give it a go and see how you like it.
It has great health benefits.
you might find that you like it better.
You could try to be a different type of Vegetarian...

If you find that just red meat is what makes you feel bad.
Hope this helps and good luck with whatever you do.
i had a similar experience when i went to a fair that had farm animals. i was petting the cute cows and pigs and having a great time. my husband and i went to get somethig to eat and he got a hamburger, i was so grossed out watchig him eat the cute animals we just visited. i now eat as little meat as possible... only chicken and fish. i havent had cow or pig in two years, since that fateful day at the fair. do what works for you. good luck
What about living trees, they are cut to make your furniture and paper, etc.?? Here on the farm, beef is raised for meat, trees are planted for their timber. The only concern should be that we run out of neither in this world. Just remember, neither makes very good pets.
This is your conscience kicking in. Just become vegetarian. People realize it's wrong to eat meat, but they ignore their conscience. Do the right thing.
Go veggie, i thought a similar thing about chicken (i had though of going veggie before) so i went veggie.
Go vegetariannnn!!! pleaseeeee let animals live do not eat them. meat eaters are selfish they eat meat because they like it they dont think about the pain animals go through just for food, when food is in you, its in you its gone you cant taste it again pleaasee go vegetarian... animals have feelings i am a vegetarian since birth and sooooo prouddd!!!!
