Want to be a vegetarian?!
Answers: I'm fourteen years old and want to be a vegetarian, my mom won't let me! What can I do?
eat meat less than usual and make sure that you only eat meat infront of your mum...thats what i do...but there are some dishes that i cannot resist eating cooked by my mums hands. Y do you want to be a vegie? :$
you can always take the one a day vitamins to help with the nutrients that your body needs. If mom does not want to cater to your likes and dislikes perhaps you could compromise...let yourself eat fish and chicken and when the rest of the family is eating roast beef or pork chops you can double up on the veggies. That may work till you get out on your own and do your own grocery shopping and cooking.
It's not a good idea to become a vegetarian. First of all, meat has protein and inorder for essential vitamins to get into your system when you eat you must have protein. Protein cares the vitamins into your cells. So, in other words...no protein then no vitamins from the food we eat and if we aren't getting the nutrients from the food we eat then we won't be healthy. Listen to your mom...she's a smart lady. :)
Your ancestors evolved over millions of years into omnivores. Your parents want what is BEST for you not what you think is best.
It really is a shame that you have to wait until you are 35 years old, as the smartest person on the entire planet you really should be running for President.
Just curious, how many Mr. Universes or Mr. Worlds do you suppose were vegetarians. How many heavy weight Olympic weight lifters.
Of all the people I know of in professions where strength and stamina is important I only know of one vegetation. There is one man who competes in the UFC who is a vegetarian. On the contrary I grew up in the 50s and 60s. I probably knew 50 health freak vegetarians. They ALL looked sick, anemic and malnourished but you go ahead. If I was your parents I would be worried to death about a child in their formative years denying their body necessary nutrients. BTW, real food nutrients are so far superior to those in OTC supplements that it doesn't warrant discussion. If you insist, see your doctor and get prescription supplements, that might allow your body to develop normally, probably not but it might.
go to the docters and let them explain it to ur mom its possible and u will b healthy
Unless you can provide food for yourself, the only thing you can do is talk to her about it.
Hi!!
I am 13, and I am a vegetarian, my mom is a vegetarian. I want to become vegan.....but researching the topic. My friends are kind-of in the same position you are...one of my friends have been a vegetarian for 1 week!!!=].
One thing you could do is tell your mom our body doesn't need meat, and you don't want to eat meat. Also tell her if you don't eat meat you will have a lower risk of diseses...such as cancer, heart disease, etc.
GO VEGETARIAN!!!!!=]
If you are serious about becoming a vegetarian, why not ask your Mom to go with you to a dietician or doctor? That way she will know that you want to be smart and healthy about it.
Also, you can get proteins by eating grains, nuts, beans, etc. Maybe if you research it and let your Mom know you are informed and serious, she might change her mind.
I started cooking vegetarian for myself around 19, it's pretty cheap to buy veggies and fruits. It's been about 7 years and I have my doctor test me about every 2 years to make sure I am getting enough vitamins. I would recommend the same for you.
When it comes to eating the meat on your dinner table just say mom Im standing up for what i believe in and if you wont support me then ill find a way to do this on my own. You can show her videos and pics on peta..or just explain to her why you want to be a vegeterian. If that doesnt convince her then just do it on your own. Its not very hard. I struggle but I still try new things(rarely but trying) Hope I helped and If you have any other questions regarding this topic email me anytime! ps if u have a myspace talk to matthew lush. Hes a vegan and hes great at giveing advice.
I went veg when I was 14 years old... my parents didn't agree with it at first, but I kept refusing to eat meat and they came to see how important it was to me. Remember, your mom can't force you to eat anything... she can try to tempt you or guilt trip you, but you are old enough to control what goes into your body.
I suggest asking her if she can set aside some alone time with you, when she won't be stressed or distracted. Explain why going veg is important to you and find out what her concerns are. Try to address her concerns - show her website about the health benefits of being vegetarian, offer to help with cooking, etc. Be calm and logical but also firm. This site has a lot of info about the health benefits: http://www.eatright.org/cps/rde/xchg/ada...
Good luck!
