WHY DON'T Vegetarians eat meat, what is their reason?!

Question: Is it some moral reason they made up in their own minds?
Did they have a bad experience with meat not being cooked by good chiefs?
It's all psychological. Animals were put on this earth for us to eat. except dogs. their mans' best friend.

so why? what is your reason? animals have no soul.

For all those vegetarians claiming that animals were not meant to be eaten-- if that is true , then why are there carnivores on this earth? (i.e lions, tigers, wolves, etc.)

For all those vegetarians who say that all animals, including humans, and plants have souls-- since both plants and animals have souls why single out one of them? What makes it okay to eat living things like plants but not make it okay to eat animal? Don't plants have as much right as animals have to live since they both have souls?

Some people just dont like the taste of it. It makes them gag. My ex was a veggie and that was her reason.

My reason for being veggie is that I don't like the idea of eating something that once had eyes.

First off, YES animals do have souls. And I guess they dont eat meat cause they have some sort of idea its wrong, or they just dont like the taste. OR they believe its healthier to avoid meat. I dont know.. but chicken is good!

i dont eat meat because i think it is very mean to eat a helpless animals they shouldn't die a hurtful death

Good Grief

I have never read such an insulting misguided question.

So lets address the WHY bit

there are many reasons why
-Ethical: Look at the cruelty in factory farms. Also, why should something have to die purely for our enjoyment, when there is no need at all to kill it.

-Environmental : The UN pointed out how bad it is. Try these links : http://www.fao.org/newsroom/en/news/2006...
http://www.virtualcentre.org/en/library/...
http://www.ciwf.org/publications/reports...

Not vegetarian links, they are UN, FAO and environmental inks

-Health : Less likely top get cancer, less likely to get fat.

All of which are very much proven , and not made up in the mind.

Animals were not put on this earth for us to eat. I am not sure what you are basing that on. If its based on Christianity you are definitely wrong , look at Genesis 1.29 "And God said, See, I have given you every plant producing seed, on the face of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit producing seed: they will be for your food:" . If not Christianity id love to know your basis for that assertion.

As for animals have no soul . ....

Well- we are animals too - same things really. And Dogs are also animals, some people do eat dogs, if you are for meat eating , why not dogs ?

Before you come here again, firing off insults and lies at such a rate, do some research.

At first I went veg because of the inumanities occuring in factory farms. I had always felt sympathy for animals but was never educated enough to make the switch. Once I went veg I started finding out a lot more about it so today I can say that I don't eat meat (or dairy, eggs, or other products, or wear fur, wool, etc) because I don't want to contribute to the destruction and ruin of our environment (because of pollution, deforestation, etc). I don't want to contribute to world hunger or water shortage (75% of the world's grain is used for animals bred for consumption and plenty of water is needed too). I want to be healthy. I don't want to feel guilty about the workers who have to suffer horrible working conditions in these factories. I don't want to financially support huge companies who take away jobs from small farmers and other businesses. There are lots of reasons.

Okay, so to clarify...it's YOUR belief that animals have no soul. Others may believe that they do - in fact, many Native American tribes believed that even plants had a soul, and they would pray for permission and forgiveness before harvesting their fruits.

There are a lot of reasons why people are vegetarian...Sometimes it's a moral issue, sometimes it's a taste issue, sometimes it's a health issue...Sometimes, it's for more than one reason. I know a married couple who are vegetarian, because she believes that all of God's creatures should be treated with respect, and because his cholesterol levels are through the roof.

For what it's worth, some people would argue with you about dogs...there are quite a few cultures around the world that eat dog meat on a regular basis. I guess that just goes to show that it's a personal decision that we all can only make for ourselves.

31 years old veggie all life.

Ethics, health, environment.

Mostly - compassion. - by compassion I mean I would never want someone to raise me and my children and eat them!

Animals are tortured for years, only to become someones food for a few minutes. - even though that someone had choices to eat healthier and better!

Yes at one point when there were no choices, we had to eat meat, but really today we have so many choices!

I want to live long enough to enjoy my families love and be healthy. versus fat and sick!

Are you offended that dogs and cats are eaten in other cultures? Who died and made you the Food Fascist?
I personally have never cared for meat, and a school trip to a slaughterhouse/meat-packing plant put the clincher on it.

I feel really bad for you that you have never looked into the eyes of a pet and swam in it's soul.

I would not presume to speak for other non meat eaters, and I feel you aren't that interested in MY reasons, so I will leave you with my pity....

Man, Your preaching to the choir. Animals have no soul and neither do I. I will not eat any meat (besides hot dogs) because of a spiritual connection with the salad bar at the local sizzler.

because they are sick,...sick in the head.

Vegetarians that don't eat meat for moral reasons do it because they don't wish to cause pain and suffering on the animal.

lol, so you favortise? peopl can eat all animals but if they eat a dog they are immoral?
btw god is suppose to be a loving person. if your a believer in the bible consider this:
yes we have rule over tha animals. but cruelty is immoral. and what modern day does to animals is cruelty.

Not psychological for me; rather, physiological.

And just how exactly can you tell me that animals do not have a soul?

I am a vegetarian and this is my reason why I don't eat meat:
> animals have feelings..so when they get hurt they feel the pain
> don't like the feeling of meat in my stomach..
> don't like supporting the factory farms and slaughterhouses
> believe animals were not meant to be eaten!!!!!

Those are my reasons...respect them please!!!

I feel bad that some people don't understand how animals are treated in factory farms....it is horribe....=[

I hope I helped!!!=]

meat takes up space on your plate that could be filled veges. both animals and plants have souls

WHY DON'T Meat eaters eat just vegetables, what is their reason?

Is it some immoral reason they made up in their own minds?
Did they have a bad experience with vegetables not being cooked by good vegan chiefs?
It's all psychological. Vegetables were put on this earth for us to eat. except veggie-dogs. their (sic) not mans' best friend.

so why? what is your reason? vegetables have no soul.

.........................................

More importantly, why do you assume that all vegetarians have the same reasoning behind their choice.

I did not become a vegetarian for moral reasons. Hell, I didn't even do it for ethical reasons.

I never had a bad experience with chefs... I did however have an experience where my cholesterol was over 300 and I thought I was about to have a heart attack.

I assure you, it's not psychological, it is simply logical. (Occam's Razor)

Animals were not "put" on this Earth for us to eat. That's like saying humans were put on this world for lions to eat. Just because it happens, doesn't make it the right thing to do.

Except dogs... why? You eat every other animal don't you. I bet you would enjoy a Fido burger. What makes Rover so special?

So, why? What's your reason?

If animals have no soul... then there's no hope for us either.

I am one and I don't eat them for two reasons. 1 my body doesn't digest protein, so I get super sick and 2.I HAVE a soul. I do believe if you ever saw what happens to these animals and had conscience you might think twice. Research a bit and then tell me what you think. If you think it's ok to eat animals with deformed heads and no eyes and can see their brains then really no one will ever convince you but my biggest question is.. What makes you an expert in order to determine whether they have souls or not. Frankly, no ones knows, I believe they do and even if they didn't ...do you really believe that is a fair reason? And FYI Dogs and cats are eaten in A LOT of Asian countries... ignorance makes the world take two steps back everytime....

does it really matter.I eat beef and pork medium rare and veggies.don't eat breads, drink lots of beer and vodka, and guess what,Ive been to the docs and I'm in great health figure that out.everything on this planet was created for a reason.Food

Why don't meat eaters stop eating meat? Is it that they don't care about clogged arteries and high blood pressure? Is it that they have no respect for nature and all of it's creatures? Is it because they are so self absorbed and self centered that they feel animals were put on earth only for their amusement and abuse?

Prove to me that animals have no souls! Go ahead look your pet in the eye and you tell me he/she has no soul!

Um, because animals weren't put here for us to eat. That's not everyone's beliefs. And some just don't like it.
And who says that dogs are man's best friends, but cows aren't?
And the fact that you say animals have no soul is ridiculous.

You have no knowledge of any god.

Your arrogance is laughable.

Only an egotistical fool would think that he had any clue what the creator of the universe wants or feels.

The Bible was written by human hands. It is blasphemy to call a work of man the voice of god.

There are many cultures in the world in which the comsumption of dogs is standard. Why don't you move there so you can enrich your point.
