Is it possible to eat TOO MANY vegetables?!

Question: I eat salads for lunch, and tons of veggies for dinner. Probably 3 cups at dinner and 2 cups at lunch. Am I getting too much of something? I take a multi, too.

You are doing the right thing, akira, not to worry. You cannot overeat on veggies. You didn't mention side dishes, but I assume you do add a little protein to your diet, such as nuts or legumes or avocados which are a great source of protein. Tofu is good, too, though a bit harder to digest. Cottage cheese is another great protein source.

But remember - while one cannot really overeat on veggies, it is advisable to limit the intake of oils and proteins to a reasonable amount. Good to take some freshly squeezed orange or carrot juice every now and then - between meals or instead of a meal.

Are you doing some kind of physical exercises every day? You will remain always well. I eat and live that way, too, and for the past thirty years I have not known what a cold is.

Perhaps you might want to do your eating a little earlier in the day. As you know, the body sort of shuts down during sleep, and if one eats too late in the evening, part of the food remains undigested in the stomach and causes discomfort.

There is an old adage, "Eat your breakfast alone, share part of your lunch with a friend, and give your whole dinner to your enemy." There is something to this. :-)

If everybody ate like you do, akira, we would not have to worry about medicare costs sky-rocketing. My hat off to you.

Best wishes always,

Michael

no it's not possible to eat too many vegetables as long as you are getting protein and other vitamins. keep taking your multi and you should be okay. but definitely make sure you factor that into your diet. eat beans and tofu to balance out yuor diet.

Thats a great habit to have, keep it up its so healthy for you.You might not need the multi though because you can get too much of some vitamins so just get them naturally through food.

There is not at all a problem in eating vegetables but see that you concentrate on green vegetables more which will be good for your health.

I seriously doubt it. You'd have to eat way more than that to get too much. Just get plenty of variety mixed in there.

Are you on a diet or some? Please, talk to a doctor or go see one.he would give you the best answers...and probably adsive you and educate you more about your concerns.good luck!

It's not possible to eat too many vegetables as long as you make sure that you're eating the proper protein and carb sources along with it. You can, however, eat too many of one type of vegetable. A person who goes on a raw carrot diet, after a few days, will start to get a nice orange complexion. So make sure you eat a wide variety of veggies, especially all those yummy green, leafy ones and you'll be fine!

In this case, it isn't too much of a good thing... Just make sure you get the protein you need from beans, nuts, tofu, whatever, and vary your veggies. Veggies are great for you and eating them is a great health habit to have, just keep it balanced and you'll be fine!

Good Luck!! =]

I think that you're still eating healthy.

I suppose eating an absolutely disgusting excess of vegetables would be really bad for you - after all, if you reach a certain calorie count for the day you'll gain weight regardless of what your diet consisted of the whole day. But, it would be also very difficult to eat 2,000 calories of vegetables (unless they are fried or doused with fat...), not to mention eating an excess amount of calories from vegetables.

Most vitamins are excreted from your system if you ingest an excess amount, some are stored in fat but in any case, I doubt it'll be harmful.

Your skin might get a bit yellow if you eat a lot of carrots.

never -be sure to get enough protein. add cheese, nuts, or bits of meat to your salads.

NO ~ You are doing just fine... actually better than fine. Good for you.
Here are some articles I put in our Health newsletter just this morning on that subject.

Slainté (to your health)

No, sounds great! Veg is one thing that usually more = better!

It's possible to eat too much of anything, the important thing is to eat a balanced diet

It is NOT possible to eat too many vegetables, because the amount of protein in your body needs to be high. In order for this to be true you must eat lots of vegetables. You should always eat lots of vegetables, REGARDLESS!

yes of course.. Vegetables is rich in vitamins and minerals. But the thing is vegetables lack in protein that can only be found in animal's meat. Protein is important for tissue repair. It is also important to note that you must have a balance of everything. Aside from the above, there are carbo and even small servings of fat. Because these heats up our body. :-)

Yes
But its healthy

well not really, but i do know that if you eat and excessivley large amount of carots it will give an orange glow to your skin.

Since humans are actually herbivores, and are not well suited for meat consumption, I don't see how it could hurt you. We have teeth for eating vegetables, we have stomachs for digesting vegetables. If we were carnivores we would not need to cook meat to make it safe to eat, we would not get heart disease, and other diseases that don't seem to effect real carnivores.

No just eat as much as you want, its not like its Bad For you and just don't worry about it ;D

Since you don't get a lot of protein, you will get sick more often.

No because it's healthy for you

You shouldn't eat too much food at all. that is unhealthy. and it is important to balance out all parts of the food triangle

yea... when i was little i ate soo much carrots.. that my skin had an orange tint to it

NO JK...

yes...

No, it's not really possible because if you eat too much, you'll lose your use of brain power and your brain will shrink of its memory cartridge, if you know what I mean.

NO not at all it is actually very nice!! But I guess you should eat a little more meat so you dont get sick of veggies all the time....

i dunno... i suppose if you only eat vegetables then yeah. even vegetarians need to eat other stuff like quorn and stuff.

not unless the trots seem unapeeling to you lol

Actually if you eat too much Broccoli bad things can happen. Trust me, I know from experience...

Yes.

EVERY plant that gets killed for food contributes to global warming.
