Is sea salt good for you?!

Question: I bought vegan butter and cereal and they both have sea salt in it. I don't know much about it though.

Answers: I bought vegan butter and cereal and they both have sea salt in it. I don't know much about it though.

It contains more sodium than regular table salt.
Please check the label to see the amount in miligrams.
If you're on a sodium-restricted diet, then you should
use a low-sodium substitute. Otherwise, you're safe
as long as you don't abuse the ingest, as it helps you
retain water in the organism.

Taste and health
================

Gourmets often believe sea salt to be better than ordinary table salt in taste and texture, though one cannot always taste the difference when dissolved. In applications where sea salt's coarser texture is retained, it can provide different mouthfeel and changes in flavor due to its different rate of dissolution. The mineral content also affects the taste. It may be difficult to distinguish sea salt from other salts with a high mineral content, such as pink Himalayan salt, or grey colored rock salt.

Because sea salt generally lacks high concentrations of iodine, an element essential for human health, it is not necessarily a healthful substitute for regular iodized table salt, which is usually supplemented with the element, unless another source of dietary iodine is available. Iodized forms of sea salt are now marketed to address this concern. However, unrefined sea salt contains many important minerals that regular iodized table salt does not contain.

sure, best salt there is. All natural, no added iodine.

No better or worse for you than table salt. Actually, Kosher salt is best for you because it's flaked shape, you use less salt. Kosher is about 30% less weight by volume than regular salt or sea salt.

Well of course not, no added salt is "good" for you. However, I would agree that all natural sea salt is much better than regular, iodized table salt.

IDK

There is no difference in nutritional value other than sea salt does not contain iodine. Iodine is necessary in the diet for thyroid function...but can be obtained through eating other foods as well.

There is a difference in taste and texture. Sea salt is obtained through evaporation of sea water...and regular table salt is mined from mineral deposits.

Sea salt is much better for you than regular tablesalt. Tablesalt is made in a lab, while sea salt is natural and also contains other elements healthy for you

I agree with mark. I bought kosher salt a few weeks ago and love it. everything he says is true. give it a try.

beware the lack of iodine in sea salt. I prefer sea salt but not as a permanent adjustment to my diet. Depending on your iodine intake, If you get none it would be dangerous to become deficient in it, but you also don't need that much.

salt is bad for you no matter what kind it is. try to find salt free butter and cereal your blood presure will thank you.
