I'm vegetarian and really want to go vegan. What's the best way of doing this?!

Question: I'm new to vegetarianism and I have heard about the cruelty involved in dairy and egg farming. I'm trying to talk my parents into buying free range eggs but they keep saying how they cost twice as much as caged eggs.

This is an eveen bigger trouble for me because I'm the only one out of my family who is vegetarian and my family LOVES their meat.

PLEASE HELP ME!

Good for you... I also went from vegetarian to vegan after learning about cruelty to animals in the egg and dairy industries.

There are so many delicious non-dairy products, like soymilk, soy yogurt, vegan mayo, vegan cheese, soy ice cream, etc. Some of these products are listed here: http://vegcooking.com/guide-favs.asp

To replace eggs in baking, you can use EnerG Egg Replacer: http://www.ener-g.com/store/detail.aspx?...

Tofu scramble is a relatively cheap and easy way to replace scrambled eggs. Here is a recipe: http://www.chooseveg.com/display_recipe....

I'm not sure how old you are, but maybe you could offer to take over shopping for the family or offer to pay for the free-range eggs yourself? Show them pictures of battery cage facilities and explain how important this issue is to you. Good luck!

Give up the mushroom omelette man, and stick to the mushroom stirfry.

Or you can get back into the food chain and give the chicken farmers their jobs back.

it's much healthier to eat meat. at least a little fish

kool umm my sister has been vegetarian for 3months now goin vegan well try just eating salads soy stuff... and if you really want to go vegan you have to lay off the eggs or anythin that comes from animals

ok, this is not untypical. really respect where youre coming from. i've been vegetarian for many years. becoming vegan shouldn't be forced, from within. don't get me wrong, please, really respect your incentive. however, for a start, just avoid the products you can, when you can....which may be difficult to stomach to begin with. always go for the other option when you can, or even contribute to the cost of eggs, to prove your seriousness, even if this means working a job or something, if you're really committed people will repsect you all the more. if that's too much though, really i suggest soy milk....you can buy vegan cheese for the same cost as normal cheese, and there are some excellent protein slices around the deli sections of most supermarkets. good luck though, and well done for at least considering it. remember though, that this step is out of compassion and try not to be too frustrated with folk who don't understand, since that diminishes from the compassion! take it easy and good luck again!

dude, come on. they are animals, their purpose in life is to provide for people, which i assume you are, so by being a vegan or vegetarian you actually take away the animals reason to live. Give them their live back and eat some meat

just try doing it slowly
but make sure you get your protein :)
dont want you fainting
