1. Taking a multivitamin isn't absolutely necessary, although it may be a good idea while you are getting used to the diet switch. Taking one might also make your family more comfortable during the early days after the switch. Regardless of whether you take a multi, you want to make sure you are getting a b12 supplement, either in vitamin pill form, or by eating foods that are fortified with b12.

2. There are some independent farmers who let their chickens run around free, but that's not the case for chickens that provide the "free range" eggs in the grocery store--the government rules for what is require for free range are a joke. Sometimes "free range" chickens have less space per bird than battery hens.

3. I eat tons of different stuff. A lot of stir fry, tons of beans and lentils, lots of broccoli, citris fruits, and apples, the occassional meat replacement (like boca), vegetarian chili (a good way to get beans in), hummus, pasta, the list is really endless. When I go out to eat, I do a lot of asian food, particularly thai and indian. Oh, and every day I have some ground up flax seed in order to get my omega-3 fatty acids.

4. Whether you should go vegan or not really depends on the details of your situation. Are you deeply committed to animal rights and/or the environment? Are you willing to put in extra work picking out the food you eat? Are you able to put up with others constantly harassing you about your eating habits? Are you ready to give up stuff like leather and cosmetics tested on animals? Since you live with your family, are they willing to support you? Are you willing to try new foods in order to have a well balanced diet? These are just a few of the things you need to think about that will tell you whether you should become a vegan.

Here's the site you can go to.... "Ask the Vegan Society"... there are plenty of people there who can answer your questions better since they are vegans.

apparently to be classed as 'free range' all the farmer needs to do is feed them each 1 cup of corn a week and have tem go out of their cages for 5 minutes a day.

go vegan
its great

if you eat right and balenced (not being a lazy vegan, 2 minute noodles, chips etc) you SHOULDNT NEED to take any supplements.

More meat for us to eat! Thats why we raise chickens and cows etc. for. What-do you think we raise them because they are pretty to look at? If we dont eat them they would overtake us one day.

Hi im Bri and for your first question answer is yes you should. Number two yes they are really free range so dont worry! I usally eat like salad and stuuf BTW im not a vegan sorry! So i had burgers and stuff. I dont think you should go vegan because you need meat to help you blood flow and that happenes when you eat meat! You should just eat meat every once and a while its on the safer side.

i don't know much about vegans but to answer your last question, it seems like since your already a vegetarian it wouldnt be too hard for you to become a vegan. And especially since your mother is one too. She could help u figure out what to eat and what not to eat..but also remember everything else that comes along with being a vegan. not just eating certain foods. & just make sure its something you really wanna do and don't do it just b/c somebody said you should. But I say go for it! Good Luck!

...you should get to the Burger King as quickly as possible and bask in the beauty of a Whopper with cheese !!!

-It depends on if you're getting enough nutrients

-I say yes, but some say no. (to some, nothing is free enough)

-food

-I don't care.

*Yes you will need a multivitamin because vegans cannot get vitamin B12,as it only comes from animal sources....
*yes they usually are, there are regulations to make sure thir standard of living meets a certain point..
*Im a vegetarian, usually eat pasta, rice, dont eat milk, yoghurt, gelatine, wear leather, but will eat free range eggs that i get from my neighbours hens....
*It doesnt matter what I say here...its all about what you feel is right, and if been a vegan is that well then yes,but remember by been a vegetarian you are already doing so so much for animals and if you want to push that a step further been a vegan is the way...

Remember you are already a huge help to changing the treatment of animals!! :)

Your first question as to if you need to take a multivitamin - depends on if you are eating a balanced diet. The only way to be 100% sure of that is to have tests run to make sure that you are getting all that you need - and that means going to a doctor to have the tests run. Some will disagree with that answer - but it really is the honest truth.

As to the second question about hens - the only hens that I would call 'free range' are those that are owned by the people that I know that own them and that allow them ' free range'. Personal opinion - allowing chickens to totally run free is not really a smart thing to do as they have little if any common sense - meaning that they will get out on the roads and get run over easy. My neighbor has chickens that are what many would call 'free range' - I call them a pain in my backside as they do indeed roam free - all over my yard and get into my different beds out back. A better approach - in my opinion - is to allow them to roam within a safe area but not to the extent that they become a problem to your neighbors or are getting killed on the road.

I eat food. Fruit, vegetables, grains - the usual. I try to keep it as basic as I can but will get the pre-made soy products since I do work and they do make things easy for cooking a quick meal after working all day.

As to if you should go vegan - my first thought is to ask why you want to do such? Is it a personal choice or are you wanting to do such because your friends are doing it? Reason I ask - many people just do things to be part of a crowd - to fit in. If you don't have a real reason - then I would suggest not to. If you do - then approach it with your parents.

1. Not if you're eating a varied diet heavy on fresh frutis & veggies.
2. "Free range" is a crock unless it's used in conjunction with "pasture raised."
3. Food.
4. Vegan is a lifestyle CHOICE that implies concern for animals. If you don't have it, nobody can give it to you, and it's not going to work for you. If you need to ask if you "should" then odds are, you don't have it.
