Why are vegetarians against make-up?!

Question: Vegetarians/vegans are not against make-up, but those of us who are veg for ethical reasons also oppose animal testing. Although many people think cosmetic testing on animals is a thing of the past, it is not. Most cosmetics/toiletries that can be found in your local Wal-Mart were tested on animals.
There are much better and more accurate forms of testing but many companies still use animals because it's cheaper to do so.

Some veggies tend to like natural things over chemical ones, so it may look like they are not wearing make-up or they choose to go au naturale.

Here are the lists of companies that do and do not test on animals, if you are interested.

Sephora's brand of make-up is cruelty-free make-up, so you might catch a few veggies in there.

They're not. It depends on the make-up.

Most cosmetics are tested on animals, for one. They're pretty cruel tests, and these tests aren't required by the FDA.

A lot of make-up contains animal ingredients. Cover Girl's foundation, I know, contains animal fat. It wouldn't make sense to reject meat products, but then consume them as cosmetics, so a lot of vegetarians avoid make-up unless it's 'vegetarian'.

their not. The time vegetarians won't wear make-up if it has been tested on animals

some make-up are tried on animals.

they aren't. some make-up is tested on animals, and contains animal by-produce, which is why many vegetarians and vegans choose to avoid these products. i guess it's a matter of your morals though really.

I don't think they are against make up per se. What they are against are products (including but not limited to make-up and other vanity products like shampoo, soap, perfume, etc etc) that use animal by-products or are tested on animals.

It keeps them busy....

Some are some aren't. I think most mineral makeups don't test on animals. =]

I hope i helped!!!!!=]

Some people are against make-up because of animal testing.

There is make-up that isn't animal tested and they wear that instead if they are into make-up.

Myself - I prefer natural over made up - but will wear it at times. But then I also am not hung-up on wearing a particular title in an attempt to describe or define myself.

It all boils down to personal choices that people make.

I'm not. Neither is my wife.

Um we aren't. We're against animal testing and (for us vegans) animal products in our consumables. That's like saying we're against dinner because you have to have meat at dinner. No, we just choose animal-free versions.

Drusilla: cover girl also tests on animals.

I'm not against make-up as long as it's cruelty-free. There is something *very* un-beautiful about torturing animals for the sake of a new lipstick shade.

Im vegan and I wear makeup... I just make sure it doesnt have animal products in it and isn't tested on animals. Easy!

Vegetarians aren't against make-up, but many are opposed to the cruel, outdated animal tests used by cosmetics companies. See http://caringconsumer.com/info_consumers... for more info.

Um... I was raised vegan, as were my two siblings, and my sister and I both wear makeup...

This question makes no sense...
