What shoe wear material do vegans purchase?!

Question: There are plenty of animal-free shoes out there. Most of the shoes you find in stores like Payless Shoe Source for instance are vegan. I typically read the tag in the shoe (they would say 100% man made material, or they will specify "leather upper" or something).

I also check on company's websites. I was delighted to learn that my Demonia boots are 100% man made material, though they look so much like leather that when I bought them I guiltily suspected they were leather... it was only when I checked later that I saw they weren't. It is cheaper to use man made materials and I find that it is almost impossible to tell sometimes.

I also have a pair of winter boots that look like they are suede but they are actually mock suede (fake, basically), with faux trim and completely 100% man made. I checked on the JC Penney's website before I went to the store to see which shoes were vegan...

I also have really cute patent-leather looking ankle boots that were less than 20 dollars because they are 100% man made material. That was from Payless.

Once you actually start looking you'd be surprised how much is actually vegan after all. I think people that order 120 dollar vegan shoes offline are suckers, because lots of the shoes out there in every day stores ARE vegan.

interesting.....
probably those jelly shoes from the 80's!
i think if they wear normal shoes they cant consider themselves vegans...almost everything is made from a cow!

nylon

hemp sandals?????

Man made fibres see below, they are cool

www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk/

You have a lot more options than you think you do.

Just search the web for vegan footwear.

Canvas, nylon...

I'd guess canvas and/or plastic weaves (nylon, etc.)

obviously not leather...

i live in northern minnesota and get a good laugh out of all the vegan tree/bunny huggers walking around in steger mucklucks made out of moose hide....the moose must have had donor cards on them...

hemp and recycled material
