Question for vegans!?!

Question: When a food says that it is suitable for vegans but also says that it was manufactured on shared equipment with products that contain eggs or milk, is it okay to eat? I've been a vegan for almost a year and I have always wondered about that.
The same thing for shampoo or other cosmetics- if something was made on shared equipment with something that did contain animal products, would you use it? My friends and parents think that it's okay, but since I don't know any vegans personally, I thought that I could get good opinions here.

1.) What is your opinion and why?

i don't use them & thats my personal choice. my reasoning is it has been contaminated with those unwanted items- and psychologically, i'd rather not consume them.

it all depends on how serious you consider the issue to be & how you wish to conduct your life. you're always going to find those with differing opinions, just don't let that determine who you are or why you've chosen this lifestyle.

eat some meat good for u once in a while.....u dont want to grow fungus out your ear..... you know u want to rate me thumbs up...huh?? huh?? :)

the food - idk

but as for the shampoos, I do not buy from companies that test on animals. - I would not give them my money to support more animal testing on things like shampoos! and make up.

I try to support companies that are vegan, because I agree with theor policies!

I am strong veggie and new vegan.

I think you can go ahead with that one. There's very few things you would ever know about how they were manufactured anyways.

my2cents----if it's marked vegan, how will you know if it's been produced on shared equipment? Your answer claims you avoid those things, so I'm curious as to how one knows?

Does using shared equipment contribute to the suffering of others?

No, not really.

I don't think so. I share a kitchen with people who eat meat, and it makes me sick. I can't bear the thought that some poor animal has been tortured to produce/become somebody's meal, and if my food touches any animal product I have to throw it out. To me, personally, it's just as bad as eating a hamburger. It's tainted with animal abuse. But, hey, that's just my opinion!

I know a lot of vegans who do not mind, though. I just consider it being "kosher" or not. :P

Oh, and you never know if somebody slipped up and accidentally got the animal products in your supposedly vegan product. (Think about why a lot of things have peanut warnings - mistakes do happen!)
